Just wanted to check the timestamps.

As someone mentioned upthread the clip of the first lady giving her card is from 2008.  The whole clip with the second lady reads from 2009.

It opens with the first lady supposedly telling him to classify his 'drug smuggling or dealing' as 'babysitting'.  The timestamp at this point reads 2011 06 01 22 49 ~35.  This is 1:30 into the youtube clip.

However halfway through the tape it returns to video of the first lady - or more specifically right before he gets placed with her.  As he's waiting someone else asks him about his income and he responds that he 'babysits'.  The timestamp reads 2011 06 01 22 41 ~10.  This is 12 minutes into the youtube video.

That is before he meets the first lady - the video goes on to show him getting placed with her in a minute.  Yet he conveniently knows what false job he can claim to get past the screeners!  It's magic.

Obvious chop job is obvious.  The guy is like a theater group dropout who refuses to quit thinking up character ideas and wearing costumes.

was consistent with the unedited footage in the second half of the video? I watched the whole thing, and I didn't see any obvious continuity gaffes -- but I wasn't privy to the observations you just made.

      •  The consistency is the problem (9+ / 0-)

The last half of the video makes it immediately obvious how brazen they are in transforming a standard conversation into right-wing red meat.

Sit down and watch from about ~11:30 onwards.  It starts with the two so called 'Russian drug smugglers' waiting to get placed with a worker and proceeds to a fairly standard conversation.

The 'gotcha' moments he trumpets in the beginning are either taken out of context or simply manufactured.

In the beginning of the conversation the lady asks what he does for income and he responds 'babysitting' BEFORE the portion in the opening that he slams as a worker telling an applicant to lie about their job.

He then goes on in his poor Russian accent to ask if the government would confirm his job by 'watching him' or 'going to his house' - to which she replies that they simply need to verify his income and there is no surveillance.  This is the set-up for a second opening slam about how she helps them hide their drug stash from Uncle Sam (or something).

They are simply having two different conversations.  The lady is trying to prepare him for an interview to get on Medicaid while O'Keefe is leading her on in order to get 'gotcha' quotes like he starts the clip with.

She's not telling him to lie, she is telling him the guidelines for what are acceptable.  O'Keefe keeps throwing in red herrings in an attempt to generate outrage once the clip goes out.

When O'Keefe tells her that they run a 'Bob Marley pharmaceutical business' and she is not telling them to lie about their income, only that you cannot claim 'drug dealer' as your source of income and advises them to stick with 'babysitting' - which they have already claimed as a source of income.

Same with the rest.  She already went over the car in the beginning and noted that if it is registered to them the value of it would be considered and might make them ineligible.

        ..and so on.

That way if anyone watches the video and if they read the comment, at least they may have second thoughts.
