    generations about unions.  I had the benefit of growing up in a union household, and have had to defend unions to some of my anti-union Republican friends.  The best way I explain it is being like an insurance policy.  My dad paid his dues every month, and along with that came health care coverage, dental, and eye care, as well as his eventual pension.  Since he was 9 years older than my mom, he had the option of paying extra (which he did) so that when he passed away my mom would receive half of his pension for the rest of her life.  For some reason my explanation stops these union haters in their tracks.  But they still don't understand that people actually had to die for the rights they benefit from today, like 40 hour work weeks, benefits, and paid vacations.  I usually avoid that route, because it doesn't work.  Very strange.

    The GOP will destroy anything they can't own.
