I see the percentage of union participation fall from 40% of the workforce to 8%, mostly without a wimper. While striking in sympathy is out, it seems there could have been something done by other unions to draw attention to union jobs being offshored. It's been going on for thirty years. Only now is there urgency. If unions only concern themselves with their own shop, they're dead. They've separated themselves from other unions, and the average citizen. Only those jobs that have to be here will stay, and what will they be? Even the truckers are being NAFTA'd. What if  the ports shift to Mexico and they use  mostly Mexican drivers and trucks. That's a tactic. Will the plight of the truckers matter to the UAW? The civil services? Should it? I think so.
