wants to impose it's ban of artificial birth control on the rest of us?  Really?  The fact that my church is in the dark ages regarding birth control hasn't stopped any of my neighbors, friends or family from using birth control.  Disparaging one religion in an attempt to stop the disparaging of another is wrong.

that given the opportunity, the Catholic Church would like to see laws changed on birth control, abortion, and gay rights.   That is a matter of record.

      1)  I have a Masters from a Catholic Seminary and a license from the Vatican that allows me to teach religion in any Catholic school in North America, provided the local diocese will allow it -  Diocese of Washington DC requires one to be a Trinitarian Christian, which at this point I am not

      2) All 3 of my wife's sisters converted to Catholicism.  While I would call none of them Cafeteria Catholics, all have areas of their lives which they live contrary to the teachings of the Church.  To preserve their privacy I will say no more about that.

      3)  I have had conversations on the Church and what it would like to achieve in terms of laws with several men now bishops, all of whom were elevated by John Paul II.  At least two, one of whom is now very prominent, privately disagreed with some of what the Church was attempting to do and even thought some of the teachings, specifically on birth control, needed to be changed, but in public continue the Church's official teaching.  None however would be like Raymond Burke threatening to deny communion to a Catholic politician who voted pro-Choice.

thank god, don't have much influence on rank-n-file catholics that fill the pews on Sunday mornings.  If we believe in polls, most Catholics are quite evolved in their views toward most social issues.  If their ancient views aren't influencing us, I don't think they are going to get far with a ban on birth control.  Are they even trying?
