I don't think that we want to make a freedom from persistent medical conditions a qualification for office.

My wife takes a lot of medication for a life-long medical condition. The meds she takes would render a naive individual pretty loopy. She's not naive to them. She doesn't get high.

If Bachmann is reguarly taking medications for migraine, they're not f@cking her up too bad. It just doesn't work that way.

Plenty wrong with Bachmann. We don't need to go there, and going there is bad for ANYBODY who has to reguarly take any medication.

Remember Kennedy's Addison's disease and a host of other health problems, FDR's polio, etc.

I don't think needing medication for legitimate health reasons should preclude anyone from holding office.

to disclose the medications she's been taking for pain over the years. Correct?

"If Bachmann is reguarly taking medications for migraine, they're not f@cking her up too bad. It just doesn't work that way."

I don't know how you can say that, without knowing what's she's taking, in what amounts, etc. Bachmann's been hospitalized a couple of times.

In other words, I understand what you are saying regarding your personal experience with migraine sufferers--but I don't know how you can generalize from that--to giving assurances that medications that none of us know about aren't significantly interfering with Bachmann's judgment. (Bachmann's judgment is always an issue, given her record on handling the truth--and the issue of medications may turn out to be related to that; I don't know how you can assure us that it's not, and therefore a non-issue.)

Most of the folks I've known have been chronic pain patients, taking opiate loads that would stop a horse.

Because they're acclimated, they don't get high.

And ya do know that medical history is privileged information, right?

We have NO right to demand it, and she is under NO obligation to release it.

To protect everybodies' privacy, that's how it's gotta be.

Look, i get that ya hate her- just try to see a larger picture.

        •  But shouldn't we know what medications she's (2+ / 0-)

been taking for pain (for years) if she wants us to consider her for the presidency?

It's not just about 'whether or not I hate her,' or this person or that person hates her---

--isn't it a legitimate question to ask, about a person seeking leadership of the United States...especially one who has an established record of lying about easily checked issues, a person who actually has floated conspiracy theories?

I understand that we have no right to DEMAND it (your caps),
but shouldn't we try to find out, the way that we'd want to find out what kind of medications a bus driver or airplane pilot was on?

Her medication is between her and her doctors.

            •  Okay, well than that settles that, then. (1+ / 0-)

Even any pain medications that she's taking that haven't been prescribed by a doctor? (I'm speculating of course, but we must agree to disagree--if, for example, Rush Limbaugh is taking unprescribed oxycontin for back pain I think we're all entitled to learn about that.)

I'll let you go now, because you have a lot of other people to write to regarding this, today. Thanks for your informed input.
