  •  Presumably, when you say the "right wing"... (8+ / 0-)

...who "says that we have to cut Social Security, cut Medicare, cut Medicaid", you are including Barack Obama. After all, he is the most powerful person in the country advocating cutting Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.

And certainly, if you read Daily Kos, you must know that it is the thought of a Democratic president advocating such cuts that has caused the most consternation - I mean, we all expect the Republicans to "let the Devil take the hindmost." But for a Democrat to advocate cutting programs for the poor and working class, especially in such an economy, is almost unthinkable.

So in the context of the veritable firestorm that has been raging here for the last, I don't know, two years, as we wrestle with the idea of a Democratic president pushing to cut Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, how are we to take your assertion that it is the "right wing" pushing for these cuts?

Is this a cryptic stab at the White House? Or are you really suggesting that it is just the Republicans who are behind the campaign to cut these programs? If it is the latter, then it is hard to take you seriously.

If it is the former, then I suggest you live up to your reputation as a straight talker and avoid such ridiculousness.

I've seen now three diaries posted here in almost as many days by Congressman Dennis Kucinich attacking the agenda of the White House without once mentioning Obama's name. Is that what we're reduced to now? Allusions and inferences?

Can I infer that I sent you a campaign contribution?

Villains, culprits, lawbreakers etc in both parties must be named and shamed. The POTUS is no exception.

Sadly it seems that some who dare to attack Obama are accused of racism (which may in fact be the case in some quarters, but I don't think it is true here in DK).

And as I have noted before, I can't take seriously any discussion of the debt and budget issues where drastic cuts in military spending are not proposed.

        Saint Reagan lived with?

On the other hand, maybe the noise and thunder and momentum of the whole Juggernaut is so enormous that even the screams of those who are crushed as they in their own small way help push it along the road to the cliff get heard as cries of joy and support for the Great Movement...
