  •  Hey, doncha know? (27+ / 0-)

This isn't a CUT to Social Security - it's going to strengthen it!

These aren't massive tax cuts for corporations - now GE will pay more in taxes than my 76 year old mother on social security and a small pension!  Yay for big business paying taxes!

This isn't a huge infusion of our wealth into the pockets of our overlords - it's ADULT and GROOVY and eat yer peas!

Moderates will LOVE this plan that will cut their retirement benefits, because moderates LOVE getting screwed in favor of the rich!

Go team!  Rah rah rah!  Huzzah to the big O!

you don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows

diaries. Cuts to SS can strengthen it, try this... closing the donut hole forever, bargaining for drugs like the military and stopping duplicate payments to hospitals all cuts and all GOOD. also need to uncap the income ceiling. I take Obama at his word our social safety net not only sets us apart but helps define us as a nation, he isn't going to balance the budget on the backs of the poor and the vulnerable. I am 67, still working because I can't afford to retire yet, but I'm not in a dither about this. If you are really concerned about this drive the Republicans crazy, they are the ones who want to gut that safety net, not our President.

like this.  But please give me some examples of when he's done things like that.

As far as I perceive, he hasn't kept a single promise he made during his campaign.  Sure, there are crumbs tossed our way,  but show me one single substantial promise he made that he has kept that truly changes the landscape.

Yes, he "banned" lobbyist money, but that was fake.  We can now look back and see that he was not elected by small donations (as it was promoted), but by major corporate interests.  The election itself was tainted in that his opponent won the popular vote, and many rules were broken along the way to the White House by his team.

I know there are a million reasons why it's hard to change the landscape, inheriting what he did - but if he truly understood that when he ran, he shouldn't have agreed to make so many promises, but instead started a dialogue with the American people and explain why things would be vry difficult - and ask for their help.

I personally think he, an inexperienced Illinois senator, was wooed by the corporate interests (who thought the time was good for their interests to elect an almost black president - especially after George Bush and the common public sentiment).  So they chose a newcomer with no real record, knowing that he could not hold up under the pressures.

Look at the people He (was it him or were they chosen for him?) chose as his advisors right at the start.  The signals were loud and clear that he was owned by the establishment that put him there.

Perhaps he means well, but it is clear that he has neither the personal strength nor deep convictions to stick his neck out against his corporate owners.

That's my take, and it's late, so good night, and good luck with your vision.

          kidding me?

          etc etc etc

Good FSM you people are insane. You really do deserve president Perry, because maybe it would show you what a REAL republican is like.

But then I remember that you said the same things in 2000 when everyone said Gore = Bush, Bush would be good for the country b/c it would put progressives in power, etc.

Of course you didn't learn your lesson, but you never do. Obama is the worst president in history. He's a Kenyan Muslim Soci . . . oh wait, I keep forgetting this isn't RedState.

I meant to say Obama is a corporatist bankster rethuglican, wall street, Alan Grayson, and whatever buzzwords you guys like.

When we stop putting leaders from the past up on pedestals and ignoring their flaws, we can start seeing our present leaders for what they really are.
