    to ensure that Medicare remains a viable program.

    I simply reject the notion that pushing the eligibility age higher is a good place to start.

    What if President Obama asked the US Congress to revisit the 1996 Act which instituted the Part D drug benefit - and remove the legal prohibition from Medicare negotiating with Big Pharma on the price of drugs/medications for those who are enrolled in Medicare?

    Do you know that the cost savings from this one thing alone could run as high as 300 million a year?

    Perhaps you find my reasoning a bit hard to handle, as I do not have any hero worship for the President. But I live in the real world, where common sense and reasonable thinking can provide solutions.

    I'd also like to recommend that you throw out those conservative talking points like: "there aren't enough taxes to be collected to "fix" it to cover everyone the way they've been covered."

    That is just a canard - if Taxes aren't where Government gets the money to pay for things, where in the hell do you think that money comes from???
