  •  You know what the Rethugs remind me of? (7+ / 0-)

They remind me of the Nazis in WWII, who--even when they could see quite plainly that the tide of war had turned against them and they were going to lose--continued to transport trainloads of Jews to the death camps.  They're so blinded by ideology they don't care what happens to this country as long as they get their way, or make their point, or whatever it is they're trying to do.

To me, this doesn't look good.  I'm getting to where I don't believe in an eleventh-hour miracle to save the country from default.

...for the McConnell "Backup" that puts the "burden" on POTUS. But Boehner won't dare call that vote because the roll call would show 150+ Democratic votes and fewer than 100 GOP votes.

I'm sure the Financial Elites have by now stopped trying to "educate" TEA enthusiasts (and those the TEA activism is holding hostage to very serious Primary challenges - an even bigger segment of GOP House members) and are now focusing on insisting that Boehner bring a vote to the floor without regard to how many GOP votes he can deliver on it.

I'm with you, though: Boehner's going to chose saving his Leadership over the consequences of default.

The so-called "rising tide" is lifting only yachts.

held hostage can be moved.  They may be out of sync with the national polls but most of them are completely in sync with the voters of their District.  Sad fact is that there are a lot of Congressional Districts in the Mid-West and South that are overwhelmingly Red where the public irrationally hates the Government.  Louie Gohmert is not out-of-sync with his District.

I don't think the votes do exist from the Democrats on the McConnell plan, at least that's what I'm hearing from some House members (primarily because of no revenue increases attached).
The biggest problem is that 80 members of the TP caucus have signed the Club for Growth pledge and now Republicans will be forced to deal with Democrats to get any plan passed.

but yeah, it's not a done deal. As i said the other day, anyone who thought Nancy Pelosi didn't exist any more is wrong.
