  •  we have great areas of agreement, i think (0+ / 0-)

i don't know what your elliptical comment is supposed to mean - 'not my diary, your comment'  since i commented on something you said in your diary. i don't want to have an empty argument with you, but there is something i consider important going on here.

i believe that we have great areas of agreement on issues.  for example, i don't THINK you believe that the sort of 'balanced' approach that the Gang of 6 or 7 is putting forth, and which Obama was happy with, is balanced.

but in your pundit roundup diary, you thought it worthwhile to find a resemblance between the republican extremists in the debt ceiling discussion, and these mythical democratic extremists who stayed home because they were too pure to vote for dems. in my first comment, i stated that there was no significant number of these. i also gave you the opportunity to say, no, that is not what you meant. that did not fit your storyline, so you just came back with it again, talking about democratic voters or activists who were trying to teach the democratic party a lesson. you want to be able to restate other people's positions so that you can make the argument you want to make, totally disregarding the inconvenient fact that you are taking a swipe at a strawman.

your answer to that is the incomprehensible 'not my diary your comment' and 'whatever'

if you cannot take the effort to honestly engage people, hear what they have to say, and respond to it, you can just ignore the comment. but if you answer it, and repeatedly misstate the other person's position, you are just writing your own fiction that doesn't involve what other people think.

Politics is not arithmetic. It's chemistry.
