New Jersey is one of state's where Republicans can win at the state level, but fall short at the federal one in statewide races. Their abysmal numbers in the urban counties are what keeps them down. No Republican hasn't gotten more than 50% statewide since 1985, Whitman won two gubernatorials with 49% and 46% respectively, while Christie won with 48%. The only chance they would have at a Senate seat in New Jersey is in a low turnout, 2010 type of situation.
