  •  Worst poll alternatives ever. Don't you (0+ / 0-)

think much of the community, given the blasé alternatives?  How about one that actually appears to care?  Well, besides the "see comment" and whatever the heck ..... means.  Or was that ......?

I hate to quote David Frum here but this may be more apropos, coming from him, "Yes the American media always loves a freak show. But a political party does not have to cooperate."

I almost didn't put a poll on this diary - my main concern was picking up on a study that hadn't seemed to have gotten much attention in the press. And I'm sure it wouldn't have gotten this much attention here if I'd published while the midwest was suffering from a record snow storm; timing is everything. Plus, I have to admit whoever coined "Thermogeddon" has come up with a catchy way of summarizing what climate change may mean if we fail to respond to it.

I won't pretend my poll was set up to measure some specific response based on any rigid design criteria. I was mainly interested in gauging the reaction of people to Sherwood and Huber's speculation about where current climate change models seem to be taking us. To that end, I followed my usual practice to set up a range of choices from an unfavorable to favorable reaction.

I always include "See my comment" for people who want to do more than click a button. I put in "..." to create an option with no strings attached for people who don't like any of the choices or may have a mixed response.

However, since this does not suit you, what kind of choices would you have put down?

"No special skill, no standard attitude, no technology, and no organization - no matter how valuable - can safely replace thought itself."

assume that no one would respond something like, "WTF? When will people realize that this is serious?"

That's what I would have chosen.  No real offense intended.

I keep wishing that the right would acknowledge climate change.  I wish they would just say, OK, climate change is caused by man but we don't care.

At least call a spade a spade.  The denial makes me so angry.
