  •  I dunno (6+ / 0-)

As a woman who has worked against the glass ceiling for many years (and I knew the woman who invented the term), and has seen it used against far too many who are talented, skilled, underemployed and generally better at doing whatever than the men hired/promoted over them, I thought it was hilarious.

That said, I do agree with you that Bachmann is dangerous, devious, ill-informed, neofascist and downright batshit crazy, which is not meant as any kind of insult to anyone with any sort of mental incapacitation whatsoever -- which description probabaly includes most of the population.

    •  I think the part that falls flat for me (0+ / 0-)

If the use of the glass ceiling in reference to Bachman. She obviously has not been hampered by it - being in one of the highest offices in the nation.

For me, the implication that her lack of reaching the Presidency is due to an unjust social phenomenon (the glass ceiling), rather than being due to her bizarre, extremist beliefs and behaviors just doesn't work.

The glass ceiling isn't her problem.

For me, it might have been better to have the final statement be something along the lines of "generally we don't want someone near the nuclear launch button when they can't be trusted to eat with a fork."

Once the bear eats your friend, there's no one left to outrun. And it'll still be hungry.
