  •  I agree it is offensives (6+ / 0-)

First there is no connection between migraine headaches and mental illness or even depression. Neither should be made fun of. I doubt we would be doing this to a male.

Granted Bachmann is an idiot and should not be given the opportunity to lead this country, but not because she has migraines. It is her radical positions on issues we should be concerned about, and this migraine crap is just a big distraction. I think her campaign possibly baited the media with this this, hoping the left would pick it up and run with it, then she could claim being the victim of sexism.

I see the lines people are drawing and finding discomfort with the image and connection to the seriousness of mental illness, but it's just a comic taking a jab at the very extreme, to the point of irrational (or "crazy"), politics and ideology of this woman.

Several of the male candidates and Republican Congressmen could be put in a similar state of parody for their insane policies, replacing the glass ceiling zinger with something else.  I don't think it's overstatement to wonder about the mental stability of quite a few of the most extreme Republicans, and gender has nothing to do with it.

Also, I will say, if someone like Kay Bailey Hutchison or Olympia Snowe were running for the nomination, they would not be treated this way because they are nominally serious and informed people, not creepy, fundamentalist, uncompromising extremists.
