    Independents are the most unreliable and unpredictable voters as they have no stand on any issue,  and they vote  each election which ever way the wind blows.

      The overwhelming majority of independents vote like partisans who shun the party label; and are not swingable. Indeed, independents tend to concentrate on the left and right edges of the political spectrum, not in the middle, and are definitely not wishy-washy as to who they vote for.

      Where they are wishy-washy is in their likelihood to turn out. When the party to which they lean fails to deliver, they are more likely than a partisan to stay home.

      Elections are not won or lost on swaying votes. They're won or lost on turning them out.
