Maybe you should find out. I thought you liked her offer?

As for cuts in Social Security and Medicare, I doubt any one will have the guts to vote for them.

Everything else is in play except defense cuts.

But of course if you aren't going to "second guess" anyone, well, I guess  we'll discuss the substance after the deal is done. See you then.

I have no ability to find out all of the various negotiating items Rep. Pelosi has contributed throughout this process. Neither do you. We are not privy to the talks. We can certainly make our opinions known, and should, but until a deal is announced all we'll have to go on are rumors, trial balloons, and self-serving leaks.

What I like is that Pelosi is saying that one of our greatest fears is not going to happen. Cuts to Social Security and Medicare are off the table.

Pelosi should be offering a more progressive deal so that,

you seem to indicate knowledge that she has not done exactly as you want. Problem being, you have no idea what she has offered beyond the few reports that trickle out. I actually assume that she has offered many more progressive deals but had them rejected. You don't believe she's done nothing else do you?

Anyway, I think we mostly agree and are just arguing over small points since in another quote you say:

As a final deal, this is a good deal, considering the terrible position the December deal left the Dem bargaining position.

I know that you don't think this is a good deal in the sense of it being the deal that would be best for the country if the GOP could be ignored. I don't either. Clearly it is not. But that "best for the country deal" will never get through this Congress. That's why I agree that as a final deal this is a good deal considering the terrible position the December deal left the Dem bargaining position.
