    made all employees salaried, rather than hourly. Problem solved - there's no such thing as overtime if you're paid an annual salary.

      at the time and the community standard in hospitals was hourly pay. They could and did send you home if the patient census fell. They monitored patient acuity every shift and staffed accordingly. You could choose to be paid, from your vacation time bank if asked to stay home. CC nurses left when the acuity card folks decided a 3-1 patient/nurse ratio would be instituted.
