  •  That would imply leadership with vision (6+ / 0-)

    not this austerity shit.

My son, a college grad is underemployed.

His career hasn't gotten started, so he is not earning a wage enough to move out or support his fiancee, or guess what, to pay significant taxes or FICA taxes.

If the job market opened up by letting those over 60 to retire with sufficent benefits, workers in their 50z, 40s and 30s would advance in their organizations and the 20somethings to get going with their lives.

And guess waht, my son would move out of my house (I'll miss him), get married, buy a house, start investing, comsume like a MFer, pay much more taxes both income and SS, and our economy would grow, nay boom again.
And we would grow out of our deficit.

And we might inject some youthful innovation to our institutions.

Instead we are mired in austerity, lowered expectations and frustration.

If we had leaders with real vision and guts, we could be America again (and the Teabaggers are not those leaders)

"Reason is six-sevenths of treason," said one of his neighbors. "Intelligence is what the enemy uses," said another.

    •  if you did that (0+ / 0-)

..the date when social security ceases  to be self sufficient would immediately become something like 2020

A scotch(or any other libation) a day keeps the doctor away
