  •  Your claim is that Obama isn't playing politics... (0+ / 0-)

...with the debt limit. That is simply untrue.

    * [new] how is it "simply untrue"? (0+ / 0-)
the GOP does not want to play politics with this issue?  what non-political hay reason could there possibly be for not granting a long-term extension of the debt?  i doubt even they are so cretinous and deluded as to find this enjoyable.  and they must be aware of how this is playing in peoria, i.e., not well for them.

Please read more carefully. I did not say that the Republicans aren't playing politics with this. They are. So is Obama.

you don't know that.  you don't know what he "wants."

I don't think you've been paying attention. He wants a huge package of spending cuts, including cuts to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and a few revenue increases, though he is willing to do without them. These are proposals from the fucking White House.

The New york Review of Books article referenced is particularly telling.

he has said he wants this issue dealt with and out of the way so that we are not distracted by this again in half a year, because that would be astoundingly bad governance to do so.  do you disagree with that logic and thinking?

No, I do not disagree with that logic and thinking, unless it requires cutting Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid benefits or reducing any kind of spending while the country has high unemployment and little or no economic growth.

Each time a person stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope... --RFK
