    for posting your story. Caring for your spouse's parents is something I understand - and an act of love which deserves acknowledgment. I hope your MIL is able to return home soon.

      I'm figuring probably another couple of weeks; she's making excellent progress, though the main challenge is that the bathroom adjacent to her room is not really disabled-accessible (the problems with retrofitting an older building in the ADA Era). Last year she was in for about 4 months, but that stay was complicated by the presence of an existing pressure sore from her wheelchair; took several trips to figure out how to retrofit it so that she would not have that problem in the future.

      We have noticed that she's starting to repeat herself a bit -- but I think it's a combination of everything she's learning to deal with plus general loneliness; she still misses her husband dearly, and we finally got the house cleared out and sold which was just another sign that her life has irreparably changed. I'm not too concerned about cognitive issues yet.

      Now to try to end the wars we ask our gay and straight soldiers to fight. -- Chris Hayes
