I grew up with the understanding that you have the sacred obligation to take care of your family. So I'm typing this at Dad's house, just after doing his morning medications and cooking him breakfast.

With my husband....he's my husband. He had slightly bad knees when I met him, and time only made it worse. He's got fatter, and fat enough that it is rather disabling. The head injuries were due to a car accident we were both in. I think we both had some damage; I've had far more trouble navigating the town I've lived in all my life since then, after a blow to the crown of the head. But my husband was driving, and the left side of his forehead cracked against the corner post of the car. There is a chip in the bone under his brow, easily felt.

We manage. We figure out what's a problem and work out ways to deal with it. And we love each other and know that neither can leave the other, and so we do all we can to make it work and make it as good as we can for us both.

It is what it is. It will be what I make it.
