    We never brought minorities to economic parity, never anywhere close.

    The widening gap is of course a further tragedy, but it's not like the white middle class which has been sliding down for 40 years from a very comfortable peak.

    •  Well, in 2030, when the top 1% is white (7+ / 0-)

      and the bottom 60% is not-white, and is excluded from the political process through voter suppression, etc.,  the conditions will be perfect for a Cuban-style revolution. Our oligarchs are no more immune to the forces of history than all the other "invincible" tyrants that preceded them.

      The forces that caused Ayn Rand to flee Russia may one day cause her worshippers to be booted from the USA.
