the little monster that they encouraged in the tea party has gotten away from them and events slip beyond control. I mean, it looks like there is nothing the repugs will vote for. That leaves Obama acting by constitutional fiat, which could give rise to a claim of a constitutional crisis.

They still control the teabaggers, whom they can win back on this if they want to. This isn't about the teabaggers being difficult, except perhaps for Boehner, who might lose his speakership if not seat over this. But Wall St. could care less about Boehner or the teabaggers, and will streamroll both to prevent a default. The only fight right now is over who benefits or suffer most politically from this, individually and as parties, and how much is cut. The limit will be raised.

Or else how do you explain the markets not being at all nervous?

      •  But the teabaggers also hate Wall Street (0+ / 0-)

and TARP, etc!  Classic right wing populism.Teapeople never understood that some of their money came from there. Wall Street should be scared shitless, because they are just now figguring out the teapeople are a cancer on their economy too.

There can be no deficit reduction without jobs, no jobs without growth, no growth without investment.

        •  Wall St. is far more powerful (0+ / 0-)

in that it ultimately controls far more pols than they do.
