    We assume this to be so. The ATT switching stations, Carnivore, Eschelon, all that stuff, it is just assumed that they sniff all packets.

    All of them.

      private companies access to what they have, and the companies can grant it with immunity from trouble.

      And there upon shall rest their strictly honest "no" when they answer this question:

      “Have any apparently law-abiding Americans had their communications collected by the government?” they write.

      Until we break the corporate virtual monopoly on what we hear and see, we keep losing, don't matter what we do.
