    for all those conservative private jet-owners to be doing? or do they have magical powers of knowing where all the planes are themselves, without any flight-controller help?

      employees and aren't being furloughed.  Thousands of other FAA employees are.  Not to mention that all FAA contractors for design, construction, system improvement, etc. are required to stop work.

        picked up some of that rereading the article... but figure this situation does not make their job any easier. already reports of new flight controller problems being overworked and falling asleep at the controls, ala reagan-era...
