yesterday -- when he said it THREE TIMES IN SUCCESSION and again this morning.  Good God.

    •  Well why isn't he bringing his plan to (0+ / 0-)

a vote before the House plan?  Why let them seize the initiative.  The timing of this will be key.  He needs to pass his bill before the House can seize the initiative and get key Senate Republicans onboard with their plan.  He has been sitting on the bill for about a week now - its time to seize the initiative.

And if he felt so strongly about the message, why did he come out and hold a press conference this morning doing exactly as I suggested?

Good God is right.  The overwrought defensiveness on this website is out of fucking control.

        now on this matter.

There is no reason for Reid to put this to a vote in the Senate since it will likely get shot down in the House, if he went that route.  Reid's possible strategy is for all Dems to stand united against the Boner bill (as they have), promise its utter failure in the Senate, and then after Boner has been revealed to be an incompetent time waster, the Senate bill will be the last thing standing.

money bills have to originate in the HOUSE, not the Senate.

It's in the Constitution. Look it up sometime.

that the Senate can take any bill produced by the House, hollow it out, and amend it with the language the Senate chooses.  It is a common legislative process - look it up.

In fact, it was the entire plan for brining the Senate bill up in the first place.  Otherwise, Reid would be at the mercy of the House from the start.
