Like other commenters, I feel the feeling I feel you feel. Like them, I do not think this is some pre-arranged agreement that is a vast mechanistic ballet.

Mencken said, "Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want and deserves to get it good and hard." Rarely has it been so ingloriously borne out, or not, than now, with that wave of Republicans who at least believe that they owe their offices to pure anti-Obama sentiment.

They join with the Jim DeMint Republicans who have taken the primary-level politicking into the Congress with them and actually work as they ran: without ethics or moderation or nuance, in fulfillment of slogan and posture only. They have said, publicly, that their job is not helping America and not "jobs, jobs, jobs" but "making sure Barack Obama is a one term president."

They'd rather kill us all than allow democracy and the will of the majority.

We do not flourish, but we persist.

      Good comment.

"I want us to live up to her expectations. I want our democracy to be as good as she imagined it." President Obama

      •  Let me correct it, then. :-( (0+ / 0-)

"Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want and deserve to get it good and hard."

I had an errant -s in the original.

One can find it in A Mencken Chrysotom.  We know the guy was a Nazi, but he had the decency to not be a public one.
