It could be a good value, depending on what is included in the $1,000 package. Airfare can often be less if it is bundled in. Then three nights hotel. Meals included? The fancier the hotel, the more food is included.

I went about 10 years ago with my mother, who was 87. OK. We splurged. We asked to stay in the upscale hotel on the Argentine side that gives a view of the falls from half the rooms. Mother enjoyed taking the view.

First we went out on the path over the water on the upper level. The next day Mother said she was tired. I went out on my own, and took the lower path. Then I returned and asked if they had a wheelchair to use for my mother. They did, not extra charge. So I was able to take mother out to experience it, even though she was very tired. (Her first time to use a wheelchair.)

Some packages will include a dash to the Brazilian side. Somehow its part of the falls has more powerful and spectacular flows, but it lacks the extended, almost mile-long, over-water pathways of the Argentine side.

Some packages will include a quick dash to Paraguay as well. If you like adding to your country count, here's an easy one. And the border town has a distinctive, Wild West flavor of a border town for sure.

You can also look into a flight B.A. to S.P. or Rio that will let you stop in Iguacu, rather than flights B.A.-Iguacu-B.A., then B.A.-Rio. It could work out cheaper.

If I'da been in your position, I'da made same choice if it was at all affordable. And you're right that getting a tour/trip in which you're well looked after is great.

What I recall was that the flight alone was around $500 and then a couple nights in a posada, ground transport and all.

I think what we're gonna do is stay closer to BA and/or maybe take a bus/train somewhere. Kinda wanted to go to the tropics /bc we're hitting Patagonia and spending a small fortune first. Nice to see something entirely different.

Hoping that Angela Jean keeps the Argentina diaries coming and we see something that strikes our fancy.

Did you see anything (wine country, other natnl. parks) that you liked especially?
