Posting a Diary Entry

Daily Kos welcomes blog articles from readers, known as diaries. The Intro section to a diary should be about three paragraphs long, and is required. The body section is optional, as is the poll, which can have 1 to 15 choices. Descriptive tags are also required to help others find your diary by subject; please don't use "cute" tags.

When you're ready, scroll down below the tags and click Save & Preview. You can edit your diary after it's published by clicking Edit Diary. Polls cannot be edited once they are published.

If this is your first time creating a Diary since the Ajax upgrade, before you enter any text below, please press Ctrl-F5 and then hold down the Shift Key and press your browser's Reload button to refresh its cache with the new script files.

ATTENTION: READ THE RULES.

  1. One diary daily maximum.
  2. Substantive diaries only. If you don't have at least three solid, original paragraphs, you should probably post a comment in an Open Thread.
  3. No repetitive diaries. Take a moment to ensure your topic hasn't been blogged (you can search for Stories and Diaries that already cover this topic), though fresh original analysis is always welcome.
  4. Use the "Body" textbox if your diary entry is longer than three paragraphs.
  5. Any images in your posts must be hosted by an approved image hosting service (one of: imageshack.us, photobucket.com, flickr.com, smugmug.com, allyoucanupload.com, picturetrail.com, mac.com, webshots.com, editgrid.com).
  6. Copying and pasting entire copyrighted works is prohibited. If you do quote something, keep it brief, always provide a link to the original source, and use the <blockquote> tags to clearly identify the quoted material. Violating this rule is grounds for immediate banning.
  7. Be civil. Do not "call out" other users by name in diary titles. Do not use profanity in diary titles. Don't write diaries whose main purpose is to deliberately inflame.

And you thought Todd Akin's comments were the lowest, most disturbing and disgusting level that the Republican Party could sink to?

HAH! Silly rabbit.

Meet Frank Szabo, Republican running for Hillsborough County Sheriff in New Hampshire:

Intro

You must enter an Intro for your Diary Entry between 300 and 1150 characters long (that's approximately 50-175 words without any html or formatting markup).

Sheriff candidate says he wouldn't reject deadly force to stop abortions

MANCHESTER, N.H. — A Republican candidate for Hillsborough County Sheriff said Wednesday that he believes elective abortions are unlawful and he wouldn't reject the use of deadly force to stop them.

Frank Szabo said that as sheriff, he would arrest any doctor performing elective or late-term abortions in his jurisdiction.

"There is a difference between legal and lawful," Szabo said.

...
When pressed about what he would do if he learned that a doctor was about to perform an elective abortion, Szabo replied he would do what it took to prevent that from happening.

"Absolutely," he said. "Well, I would hope that it wouldn't come to that, as with any situation where someone is in danger, but again, specifically talking about elective abortions and late-term abortions, that is an act that needs to be stopped."

Well, now. Isn't that special.
Szabo said he would arrest doctors who perform elective or late-term abortions and bring them to the county attorney to prosecute, even if the doctors' actions were allowed under state law.
Oh. I see.

So, does Mr. Szabo have any actual knowledge of the law, the Constitution of either New Hampshire or the United States, or, for that matter, the most basic understanding of actual law enforcement procedure or protocol?

Szabo said he doesn't have any background in law enforcement, but he said his business background gives him the experience to run for the position of sheriff.
Ah, of course. He has BUSINESS experience. Yup, BUSINESS EXPERIENCE is all it takes to know how to run a county sheriff department. Or, presumably, to fly fighter jets. Or perform surgery.

As long as you have BUSINESS EXPERIENCE, apparently you can perform any job on the planet.

Gah.

Minor update: Just one thing to note. I'm a freelance website developer. Have been for 13 years now (which, actually, is kind of an eternity by web standards, I suppose...). By the Republican Party's standards, since I have "at least 13 years of business experience" I guess that makes me qualified to run for President...
