Posting a Diary Entry

Daily Kos welcomes blog articles from readers, known as diaries. The Intro section to a diary should be about three paragraphs long, and is required. The body section is optional, as is the poll, which can have 1 to 15 choices. Descriptive tags are also required to help others find your diary by subject; please don't use "cute" tags.

When you're ready, scroll down below the tags and click Save & Preview. You can edit your diary after it's published by clicking Edit Diary. Polls cannot be edited once they are published.

If this is your first time creating a Diary since the Ajax upgrade, before you enter any text below, please press Ctrl-F5 and then hold down the Shift Key and press your browser's Reload button to refresh its cache with the new script files.

ATTENTION: READ THE RULES.

  1. One diary daily maximum.
  2. Substantive diaries only. If you don't have at least three solid, original paragraphs, you should probably post a comment in an Open Thread.
  3. No repetitive diaries. Take a moment to ensure your topic hasn't been blogged (you can search for Stories and Diaries that already cover this topic), though fresh original analysis is always welcome.
  4. Use the "Body" textbox if your diary entry is longer than three paragraphs.
  5. Any images in your posts must be hosted by an approved image hosting service (one of: imageshack.us, photobucket.com, flickr.com, smugmug.com, allyoucanupload.com, picturetrail.com, mac.com, webshots.com, editgrid.com).
  6. Copying and pasting entire copyrighted works is prohibited. If you do quote something, keep it brief, always provide a link to the original source, and use the <blockquote> tags to clearly identify the quoted material. Violating this rule is grounds for immediate banning.
  7. Be civil. Do not "call out" other users by name in diary titles. Do not use profanity in diary titles. Don't write diaries whose main purpose is to deliberately inflame.

I ran across this speech snippet.  It's only 1 minute long.  Nothing has changed.

Those who don't study and learn history are doomed to repeat history.  Well, there's some very frightenting 20th Century history to learn from.  FDR guided the USA through two of the worst chapters:  The Great Depression and WWII

Obama got to guide the USA through the Great Recession.  I pray we can avoid WWIII.  It seems the Romney PNAC Camp would like nothing better.

Here's the TRANSCRIPT:

"Let me warn you, and let me warn the nation, against the smooth evasion that says 'Of course we believe these things.

We believe in social security.
We believe in work for the unemployed.
We believe in saving homes.
Cross our hearts and hope to die. (laughter and applause)

'We believe in all these things.

But we do not like the way that the present administration is doing them. Just turn them over to us.  (laughter and applause)

We will do all of them,
we will do more of them,
we will do them better and, most important of all,
the doing of them will not cost anybody anything'"  (huge applause)

Well, we saw in the 1920s (Great Depression), the 1980s (Savings & Loan Crash) and the Bush reign of 2000-2008 (The Great Recession) what happens when the GOP rules.

Never Again!

Intro

You must enter an Intro for your Diary Entry between 300 and 1150 characters long (that's approximately 50-175 words without any html or formatting markup).

I also love this speech about the 1920s DO NOTHING GOVERNMENT.

FDRs words could easily be Obama's words today.  FDR could have easily been talking about the Do Nothing GOP today.

The GOP in the 1930s HATED FDR the way the GOP today HATES Obama.

Extract from famous 1936 speech in Madison square garden. That was 72 years ago...

The Republicans allowed the US economy be destroyed.  The tax rate on the RICH was only 25% and speculation by Wall Street was unregulated.

FDR addresses what happened in this speech.

Here's the TRANSCRIPT:

"For twelve years this Nation was afflicted with hear-nothing, see-nothing, do-nothing Government.

The Nation looked to Government but the Government looked away.

Nine mocking years with the golden calf and three long years of the scourge!
Nine crazy years at the ticker and three long years in the breadlines!
Nine mad years of mirage and three long years of despair!

Powerful influences strive today to restore that kind of government with its doctrine that that Government is best which is most indifferent.

For nearly four years you have had an Administration which instead of twirling its thumbs has rolled up its sleeves. We will keep our sleeves rolled up.

We had to struggle with the old enemies of peace:

business and financial monopoly,
speculation,
reckless banking,
class antagonism,
sectionalism,
war profiteering.

They had begun to consider the Government of the United States as a mere appendage to their own affairs.

We know now that Government by organized money is just as dangerous as Government by organized mob.

Never before in all our history have these forces been so united against one candidate as they stand today.

They are unanimous in their hate for me, and I welcome their hatred."

In the 1930s big money & corporations began conspiring.

Here is the history of what they have done and are doing.  This is a long read; however, if we don't fully know the history we cannot know how to push back:

80 Years of Planning: The Kochs + The Family + Birchers = No Democracy

There are some very disturbing factions in todays GOP.  I think the warning made by Berlin Ambassador, William Dodd, in 1933 are as relevant today as they were then as well.
