Posting a Diary Entry

Daily Kos welcomes blog articles from readers, known as diaries. The Intro section to a diary should be about three paragraphs long, and is required. The body section is optional, as is the poll, which can have 1 to 15 choices. Descriptive tags are also required to help others find your diary by subject; please don't use "cute" tags.

When you're ready, scroll down below the tags and click Save & Preview. You can edit your diary after it's published by clicking Edit Diary. Polls cannot be edited once they are published.

If this is your first time creating a Diary since the Ajax upgrade, before you enter any text below, please press Ctrl-F5 and then hold down the Shift Key and press your browser's Reload button to refresh its cache with the new script files.

ATTENTION: READ THE RULES.

  1. One diary daily maximum.
  2. Substantive diaries only. If you don't have at least three solid, original paragraphs, you should probably post a comment in an Open Thread.
  3. No repetitive diaries. Take a moment to ensure your topic hasn't been blogged (you can search for Stories and Diaries that already cover this topic), though fresh original analysis is always welcome.
  4. Use the "Body" textbox if your diary entry is longer than three paragraphs.
  5. Any images in your posts must be hosted by an approved image hosting service (one of: imageshack.us, photobucket.com, flickr.com, smugmug.com, allyoucanupload.com, picturetrail.com, mac.com, webshots.com, editgrid.com).
  6. Copying and pasting entire copyrighted works is prohibited. If you do quote something, keep it brief, always provide a link to the original source, and use the <blockquote> tags to clearly identify the quoted material. Violating this rule is grounds for immediate banning.
  7. Be civil. Do not "call out" other users by name in diary titles. Do not use profanity in diary titles. Don't write diaries whose main purpose is to deliberately inflame.

In an otherwise good editorial which kicks off

This year, voting is more than just the core responsibility of citizenship; it is an act of defiance against malicious political forces determined to reduce access to democracy.
The reason
Even now, many Republicans are assembling teams to intimidate voters at polling places, to demand photo ID where none is required, and to cast doubt on voting machines or counting systems whose results do not go their way.
This is a coordinated attack on the very foundation of our democracy, the right to vote. The Republican Party have used the blatant lie of "voter fraud" to try and disenfranchise voters that they consider to be dangerous to their political ambitions.

This has not been the actions of a few, this has been an organized attack across America and the Republican Party is solely to blame.

No legitimate reason was given; the action was entirely partisan in nature.
The reason is clear, if you will not vote for the Republican Party, then you should not have the right to vote.
One of the saddest signs of the politicization of the voting process and the counting of ballots
By one Party, just remember the malicious and unwarranted attacks upon ACORN, a group that promoted democracy by helping people to vote.
Public outcry, with support from the courts, may eventually remove these threats to democracy.
If the courts find the activities of voter suppression illegal, then surely those carrying them out and organizing the attack upon our democracy should be brought in front of a judge and jury and tried?

The Republican Party had two objectives in the last four years.

1] Make it impossible to legislate in congress.

2] Disenfranchise as many Democratic Party voters as possible.

They have done this by race baiting, sexism, homophobia, religious intolerance, xenophobia and fear mongering, whilst hiding behind  a false flag of patriotism.

All with one sole aim, personal profit; and in the meantime if the country suffers, so be it.

It has been shameful and undemocratic all because the majority of people do not see the Republican Party as fit to lead; so the Party resort's to sabotage and electoral fraud.

THe NYT fails to make it clear that this is not a bipartisan effort, one party alone is to blame for the disenfranchisement and extra costs and that is:

The Republican Party, from top to bottom and from side to side.

Whether it is successful or not; it is still electoral fraud.
