Posting a Diary Entry

Daily Kos welcomes blog articles from readers, known as diaries. The Intro section to a diary should be about three paragraphs long, and is required. The body section is optional, as is the poll, which can have 1 to 15 choices. Descriptive tags are also required to help others find your diary by subject; please don't use "cute" tags.

When you're ready, scroll down below the tags and click Save & Preview. You can edit your diary after it's published by clicking Edit Diary. Polls cannot be edited once they are published.

If this is your first time creating a Diary since the Ajax upgrade, before you enter any text below, please press Ctrl-F5 and then hold down the Shift Key and press your browser's Reload button to refresh its cache with the new script files.

ATTENTION: READ THE RULES.

  1. One diary daily maximum.
  2. Substantive diaries only. If you don't have at least three solid, original paragraphs, you should probably post a comment in an Open Thread.
  3. No repetitive diaries. Take a moment to ensure your topic hasn't been blogged (you can search for Stories and Diaries that already cover this topic), though fresh original analysis is always welcome.
  4. Use the "Body" textbox if your diary entry is longer than three paragraphs.
  5. Any images in your posts must be hosted by an approved image hosting service (one of: imageshack.us, photobucket.com, flickr.com, smugmug.com, allyoucanupload.com, picturetrail.com, mac.com, webshots.com, editgrid.com).
  6. Copying and pasting entire copyrighted works is prohibited. If you do quote something, keep it brief, always provide a link to the original source, and use the <blockquote> tags to clearly identify the quoted material. Violating this rule is grounds for immediate banning.
  7. Be civil. Do not "call out" other users by name in diary titles. Do not use profanity in diary titles. Don't write diaries whose main purpose is to deliberately inflame.
For the complete list of DailyKos diary guidelines, please click here.

Please begin with an informative title:

Every day is a new day and with that, a new opportunity.
EVERYONE is welcome and please join us each morning at 7:30 AM PACIFIC
to tell us what you're working on, share your show & tell, vent, whatever you want...
...this is an open thread. Nothing is off topic.

We have three regions enjoying meet ups today with almost 40 Kossacks involved! Have FUN Central Ohio, Motor City and Chicago Kossacks! Can't wait for your reports!

The Baja Kossacks met yesterday so we should be hearing from them soon and with photographs they said they'd take.

A QUICK WORD ON TAKING PHOTOS: I've learned that asking people to pose for a photograph results in many more good photos. Otherwise, you get the backs of heads and other people covered up. So don't be shy about asking for people to look at the camera and wave at NEW DAY. During the event, try taking posed shots of 3 or 4 people at a time and on a list write down their screen names as you go. Viewers love to see screen names with faces when you post. You'll definitely find some Kossacks who don't want to be photographed or perhaps just not ID'd. I always respect that and never try to convince them otherwise. I love posed entire group shots like many have done. I like to use those in the body of my diary to link to your photo diaries. When the first person announces they are leaving is when I try to remember to ask the whole group to stand up and pose for a quick group shot. Then they can all return to to their meals. No need to go outside but those shots are great, too.

TIMING ON POSTING YOUR EVENT UPDATE OR PHOTO DIARIES: I think it might be a good idea to post all your event related diaries when NEW DAY posts each day. You can write your diary the night before and then set it to automatically publish at 7:30 AM Pacific the next day. If you send me an kosmail when you queue your diary the night before I'll remember to look for it the next morning and post a link in my diary to drive traffic to your diary. Let's try this and see if it makes for an effective group effort.

NEW READERS!
Please check our bulleted New Groups lists below and see if your region has a group.

A new leader just volunteered yesterday:

North Carolina Triangle Kossacks: Please kosmail highacidity to get on her list to be invited to the group and attend meet-ups.

TODAY'S COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION QUESTION:

Where did you find your lost contact?  h/t MB?
Tell me all about your favorite restaurant!

My (FOOD PORN) response will be in my tip jar.
