Posting a Diary Entry

Daily Kos welcomes blog articles from readers, known as diaries. The Intro section to a diary should be about three paragraphs long, and is required. The body section is optional, as is the poll, which can have 1 to 15 choices. Descriptive tags are also required to help others find your diary by subject; please don't use "cute" tags.

When you're ready, scroll down below the tags and click Save & Preview. You can edit your diary after it's published by clicking Edit Diary. Polls cannot be edited once they are published.

If this is your first time creating a Diary since the Ajax upgrade, before you enter any text below, please press Ctrl-F5 and then hold down the Shift Key and press your browser's Reload button to refresh its cache with the new script files.

ATTENTION: READ THE RULES.

  1. One diary daily maximum.
  2. Substantive diaries only. If you don't have at least three solid, original paragraphs, you should probably post a comment in an Open Thread.
  3. No repetitive diaries. Take a moment to ensure your topic hasn't been blogged (you can search for Stories and Diaries that already cover this topic), though fresh original analysis is always welcome.
  4. Use the "Body" textbox if your diary entry is longer than three paragraphs.
  5. Any images in your posts must be hosted by an approved image hosting service (one of: imageshack.us, photobucket.com, flickr.com, smugmug.com, allyoucanupload.com, picturetrail.com, mac.com, webshots.com, editgrid.com).
  6. Copying and pasting entire copyrighted works is prohibited. If you do quote something, keep it brief, always provide a link to the original source, and use the <blockquote> tags to clearly identify the quoted material. Violating this rule is grounds for immediate banning.
  7. Be civil. Do not "call out" other users by name in diary titles. Do not use profanity in diary titles. Don't write diaries whose main purpose is to deliberately inflame.

Monday! A full work week.

Itzl AlertingAs you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here.  We care!

If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.

Intro

You must enter an Intro for your Diary Entry between 300 and 1150 characters long (that's approximately 50-175 words without any html or formatting markup).

No holidays or vacations or time off this week.

Xoco is still coming with me to work even though the weather is better because my youngest is in town, and she hateses him, she does, with every little subatomic particle in her body. She only has to catch sound of his feet stepping on our property and she's all up in growls and ready to snap at him.  Even as she takes treats from him, she growls. We've tried every method of teaching her he's nice, and she's not buying it. She wasn't born yesterday, you know, even if she is brain damaged.

Xoco

We have managed to tame her down enough that she keeps one eye on me and one on him.  The eye on me is to see if I'm watching her.  If I am, then she keeps her growls down low and doesn't try to bark or snap. If I'm not, she will go into a frenzy until I say something.  Not even a whole word, just a sound.  The eye on him, of course, is to determine if he's close enough for her to bite him - not the she's ever bitten him or even done more than snatch a treat from his fingers.  But she could, she wants him to know. She could. And all that's holding her back is her respect for me.

With his dog, Arkady, the Alaskan Malamute, she's much calmer around him, as if his having a dog elevates him to barely tolerable. As long as he moves slow and stays close to his dog, that is.

I have no clue why she hates my son so much.  She doesn't care for his father very much, either. She adores his BFF, though, and his dog. And she's fine around most other people.

Some days, I really wish I could hold a conversation with her, find out what's going through her little brain and why she hates my youngest.
