Posting a Diary Entry

Daily Kos welcomes blog articles from readers, known as diaries. The Intro section to a diary should be about three paragraphs long, and is required. The body section is optional, as is the poll, which can have 1 to 15 choices. Descriptive tags are also required to help others find your diary by subject; please don't use "cute" tags.

When you're ready, scroll down below the tags and click Save & Preview. You can edit your diary after it's published by clicking Edit Diary. Polls cannot be edited once they are published.

If this is your first time creating a Diary since the Ajax upgrade, before you enter any text below, please press Ctrl-F5 and then hold down the Shift Key and press your browser's Reload button to refresh its cache with the new script files.

ATTENTION: READ THE RULES.

  1. One diary daily maximum.
  2. Substantive diaries only. If you don't have at least three solid, original paragraphs, you should probably post a comment in an Open Thread.
  3. No repetitive diaries. Take a moment to ensure your topic hasn't been blogged (you can search for Stories and Diaries that already cover this topic), though fresh original analysis is always welcome.
  4. Use the "Body" textbox if your diary entry is longer than three paragraphs.
  5. Any images in your posts must be hosted by an approved image hosting service (one of: imageshack.us, photobucket.com, flickr.com, smugmug.com, allyoucanupload.com, picturetrail.com, mac.com, webshots.com, editgrid.com).
  6. Copying and pasting entire copyrighted works is prohibited. If you do quote something, keep it brief, always provide a link to the original source, and use the <blockquote> tags to clearly identify the quoted material. Violating this rule is grounds for immediate banning.
  7. Be civil. Do not "call out" other users by name in diary titles. Do not use profanity in diary titles. Don't write diaries whose main purpose is to deliberately inflame.

Some people thought my making James Yeager the butt of a series of jokes and wisecracks was unwise  - it might provoke him - yet seems I wasn't the only one would couldn't help shoving a stick in the dumb-ass nest.

http://www.colbertnation.com/...

Yeager: I don't condone any felonies, assaults or murders - unless it's necessary.
Which of course begs the question - exactly when would that be?
Intro

You must enter an Intro for your Diary Entry between 300 and 1150 characters long (that's approximately 50-175 words without any html or formatting markup).

Before he cancelled his scheduled appearances on MSNBC and other stations Jim Yeager did this interview with a local reporter.

WSMV Channel 4

It took a bit of prodding, but eventual Yeager admitted exactly when and what "people" he just might start killing.

"It will be time to shoot people when the Constitution is set on fire," he told Channel 4 News. "If somebody comes to take my guns, I will shoot them."
What's most amazing about this interview is how much Yeager whines about people who've criticized him for his comments, up to and including (or so he says) threats against him, his family and his business.  Yet immediately after this complaint, he says that his own threat against the Country is still justified.

Here's the thing, the State of Tennessee has already taken away Yeager's guns, or more specifically his license to carry handguns.

James Yeager, 42, had his permit suspended based on a "material likelihood of risk of harm to the public," the department said in a statement.

Col. Tracy Trott of the Tennessee Department of Safety said it didn't take him long to reach a decision after viewing the comments on the Internet.

"I watched it twice to make sure I was hearing what I thought I heard," Trott said.

"It sounded like it was a veiled threat against the whole public. I believed him. He had a conviction in his voice, and the way he looked into the camera, I believe he's capable of a violent act," Trott said.

Yeager told Channel 4 News he is aware of the suspension, and his attorney will handle his statements going forward.

So it wasn't the President who took Yeager's guns away with a an executive action - the details of which will (and can) probably only involve enforcement of existing laws - it was the State of Tennessee who did it.  So of course, he's lawyered up, because that's what manly tough guys do.

In this video the attorney does most of the talking and tries to direct people to express their view to their elected representatives - with a provided link - to continue to push politically toward protecting gun rights.

Clearly Yeager still has weapons even without his carry license, he runs a Tactical Assault Training Facility which includes retals of Class III (Fully Automatic) guns.  Local Police and even members of the Army use his facility and it's very likely that he and his staff could easily hold off a armed assault.

Although it's also obvious that any law enforcement agency who might wish to serve a search warrant against Yeager, if that's even necessary considering his new conciliatory tone, would know that too.  It's been a long time since Waco.  The ATF and FBI have dramatically changed their tactics to reduce conflict and casualties.  Nobodies going to storm the Tactical Response compound.  They're more likely to pick him up while he's grocery shopping and pull him in for questioning than stage an Dramatic Armed Assault on Tactical Response.

Yeager is far from the only one whose preparing for the Gun Roundup Apocalypse, there's also the resident of the The Citadel in Idaho - A "Patriot" Community.

The Citadel is evolving as a planned community where residents are bound together by:

    Patriotism
    Pride in American Exceptionalism
Our proud history of Liberty as defined by our Founding Fathers, and
Physical preparedness to survive and prevail in the face of natural catastrophes — such as Hurricanes Sandy or Katrina — or man-made catastrophes such as a power grid failure or economic collapse.

The Citadel is not your typical planned community where the developer's objective is selling cookie-cutter homes at the highest possible profit-margin.

The Citadel is not profit-driven. The Citadel is Liberty-driven: specifically Thomas Jefferson's Rightful Liberty.

Marxists, Socialists, Liberals and Establishment Republicans will likely find that life in our community is incompatible with their existing ideology and preferred lifestyles.

DESCRIPTION: The Citadel Community will house between 3,500 and 7,000 patriotic American families who agree that being prepared for the emergencies of life and being proficient with the American icon of Liberty — the Rifle — are prudent measures. There will be no HOA. There will be no recycling police and no local ordinance enforcers from City Hall.

At any rate the rabid dementia of the opposition to even the most reasonable efforts to prevent weapons from getting into the hands of criminals and disturbed individuals certainly does not begin or end with Yeager or the residents of the Citadel.  The NRA & GOP turn to blame violent video games (when they already have a Rating System which indicates both which games are "Violent" and "Mature") and Movies (which also have a Rating System btw) while at the same time opposing a Universal Background Check and Opposing Funding for Metal Health Services and opposing counseling for Domestic Violence - is just mind-blowing.

We shouldn't protect ourselves from guns or excessive bullets, we have to protect ourselves from the already regulated and sometimes censored video games and movies. Right...

And if the President dares to use is Presidential Authority to protect the American People - well then of course he should be Impeached according to Reagan AG Ed Meese.

Speaking with Newsmax, Meese said Congress may have to consider impeaching Obama if he were “to try to override the Second Amendment in any way” with an executive order. He did allow that there are some executive actions related to guns that Obama could take wouldn’t be impeachable.

“It would be up to the Congress to take action, such as looking in to it to see if, in fact, he has really tried to override the Constitution itself,” Meese told Newsmax. “In which case, it would be up to them to determine what action they should take — and perhaps even to the point of impeachment.

Look people, 60% of the gun deaths in this nation - Are Suicides.  Many of the rest are Domestic Violence Situations. If we simply start with a strategy that addresses the largest portions of the problem - which is adequate gun responsibility and gun safety for those that are most vulnerable and at risk - we could make an enormous amount of headway, with a minimum of intrusion.  (Perhaps people with a current restraining order or a "violent" flag from a licensed psychiatrist - the way that both Laughner, Holmes and Virginia Tech Shooter Cho were flagged by their schools - should get their carry permits temporarily pulled until a court agrees they are no longer a danger?)  Think again, once more, on what Bob Costas said while quoting Jason Whitlock about Guns following the Murder/Suicide of NFL player Jovan Belcher just a few weeks ago.

Also remember how he was vilified for daring to "politicize" the issue? An issue of rabid gun ownership amongst a group of people who make their living by inflicting brain damage on each other.

How many times have we seen live footage of a hostage stand-off with a dad/ex-husband/ex-boyfriend holding his family at gun point against the SWAT team surrounding the building?  We noticed with Belcher because he's in the NFL, but it happens all the time. On the average about 1500 times per year.

This isn't just about mass shooting like in Tuscon or in Newtown.  It isn't just about gun violence connected to the drug trade or to gangs.  It's also about people like Junior Saeu - who not long ago committed suicide, using a gun.

Our Soldiers, who clearly have been well trained on using firearms, have been committing suicide at incredible rates - using guns.

Service members committed suicide during 2012 at a record pace: more than 349 took their own lives across the four branches, or one every 25 hours, a Department of Defense spokesperson confirmed Monday.

The Army sustained the heaviest suicide toll at 182, a dark tally that — as NBC News reported Jan. 3 — marked another frightening first as soldier suicides last year outpaced the 176 Army members who were killed in combat while serving Operation Enduring Freedom, according to Pentagon officials.

During 2012, there also were 60 suicides among active-duty members of the Navy, 59 in the Air Force and 48 in the Marine Corps. Throughout the U.S. military, suicides increased by nearly 16 percent from 2011 to 2012, figures show. The Department of Defense has been issuing annual reports that track suicides since 2008, said spokeswoman Cynthia O. Smith.

We quite literally started losing more soldiers to suicide last year than we are losing in Afghanistan.

Clearly that isn't only the fault of guns, but also it's true that guns make those suicides more successful.  More efficient. More permanent.

We're going to have to learn to hear the blowhards, but not let them deter us. Never Let a Bully See You Flinch, because deep down they're all cowards just looking for an excuse. We're going to have the Steam Roll them, drag them kicking and screaming from the their Demented World into the real world where over 90,000 Americans a year are wounded and 31,000 DIE from firearms.  Each year.  Every year.  More than we've lost in any War since World War II!

If World War II were happening in our Streets and In our Living Rooms Every Day, Every Month and Every year - how many Gun Crazed WingNuts would we be willing to Bowl Over in order to stop it?

I think all of them, but that's just me - what do you think?
