Posting a Diary Entry

Daily Kos welcomes blog articles from readers, known as diaries. The Intro section to a diary should be about three paragraphs long, and is required. The body section is optional, as is the poll, which can have 1 to 15 choices. Descriptive tags are also required to help others find your diary by subject; please don't use "cute" tags.

When you're ready, scroll down below the tags and click Save & Preview. You can edit your diary after it's published by clicking Edit Diary. Polls cannot be edited once they are published.

If this is your first time creating a Diary since the Ajax upgrade, before you enter any text below, please press Ctrl-F5 and then hold down the Shift Key and press your browser's Reload button to refresh its cache with the new script files.

  1. One diary daily maximum.
  2. Substantive diaries only. If you don't have at least three solid, original paragraphs, you should probably post a comment in an Open Thread.
  3. No repetitive diaries. Take a moment to ensure your topic hasn't been blogged (you can search for Stories and Diaries that already cover this topic), though fresh original analysis is always welcome.
  4. Use the "Body" textbox if your diary entry is longer than three paragraphs.
  5. Any images in your posts must be hosted by an approved image hosting service (one of: imageshack.us, photobucket.com, flickr.com, smugmug.com, allyoucanupload.com, picturetrail.com, mac.com, webshots.com, editgrid.com).
  6. Copying and pasting entire copyrighted works is prohibited. If you do quote something, keep it brief, always provide a link to the original source, and use the <blockquote> tags to clearly identify the quoted material. Violating this rule is grounds for immediate banning.
  7. Be civil. Do not "call out" other users by name in diary titles. Do not use profanity in diary titles. Don't write diaries whose main purpose is to deliberately inflame.

Please begin with an informative title:

On Wednesday Rush Limbaugh added to his history of nationally broadcast racist rhetoric with a slam on the Latino work ethic.  Limbaugh granted Cubans amnesty from this stereotype, perhaps because of his newfound friendship with Cuban American Senator Marco Rubio:

(Section excerpted below begins at the 2:00 mark)

LIMBAUGH: And the way the Republicans are looking at it is that they think that Hispanic immigrants are made-to-order conservatives. For some reason, culturally, they think that they're invested in hard work. And using the Cuban exile model, they're exactly right. But the Hispanic demographic, if you will, or population, has shifted. And the Cuban exile model is no longer the dominant model. The Mexican immigrant model is. And that -- they arrive with an entirely different view of America. And I'm sorry if this is offensive, but it's true.

And I'm not just asserting it. The scholarly research from academia is out there. A full 75 percent of voting Hispanics believe that prosperity is the job of government. And so they'll vote for the party that espouses those beliefs. [It] happens to be the Democrats. And so we sit here, and we think it's a lost cause to favor amnesty, illegal immigration, simply to get voters.

As for the megalomania update, Rush Limbaugh is apparently going to be “The Decider” on immigration reform.  On Monday’s program  he said it would be up to him to stop it:

Anyway, one of Marco Rubio's points, folks, essentially is that Obama's already given us de facto amnesty anyway.  He did it with the children of illegal immigrants via the executive order back last year.  It was prior to the election.  I mean, thanks to Obama you have amnesty unless you get convicted of a major felony.  So I don't know that there's any stopping this.  It's up to me and Fox News, and I don't think Fox News is that invested in this.

If the GOP is serious about reversing recent trends of Latino voters abandoning them they’re going to need to distance themselves from self-appointed Republican spokesmen like Limbaugh who don’t seem to believe that every human has equal value.

I'm not a racist, it's just "scholarly research from academia"!
