Posting a Diary Entry
Daily Kos welcomes blog articles from readers, known as diaries. The Intro section to a diary should be about three paragraphs long, and is required. The body section is optional, as
is the poll, which can have 1 to 15 choices. Descriptive tags are also required to help others find your diary by subject; please don't use "cute" tags.
When you're ready, scroll down below the tags and click Save & Preview. You can edit your diary after it's published by clicking Edit Diary. Polls cannot be edited once they are published.
If this is your first time creating a Diary since the Ajax upgrade, before you enter any text below, please press Ctrl-F5 and then hold down the Shift Key and press your browser's Reload button to refresh its cache with the new script files.
ATTENTION: READ THE RULES.
One diary daily maximum.
Substantive diaries only. If you don't have at least three solid, original paragraphs, you should probably post a comment in an Open Thread.
No repetitive diaries. Take a moment to ensure your topic hasn't been blogged (you can search for Stories and Diaries
that already cover this topic), though fresh original analysis is always welcome.
Use the "Body" textbox if your diary entry is longer than three paragraphs.
Any images in your posts must be hosted by an approved image hosting service (one of: imageshack.us, photobucket.com, flickr.com, smugmug.com, allyoucanupload.com, picturetrail.com, mac.com, webshots.com, editgrid.com).
Copying and pasting entire copyrighted works is prohibited. If you do quote something, keep it brief, always provide a link to the original source, and use the <blockquote> tags to clearly identify the quoted material. Violating this rule is grounds for immediate banning.
Be civil. Do not "call out" other users by name in diary titles. Do not use profanity in diary titles. Don't write diaries whose main purpose is to deliberately inflame.
Same old Republican war on the middle class and those striving to get into the middle class. Marco Rubio can speak Spanish, but that's about the only difference between him and the VP nominee last year, Paul Ryan. Both want to wage class warfare on behalf of the rich on everyone else. Case in point: the minimum wage.
Last night, the President called for an increase in the minimum wage:
"This single step would raise the incomes of millions of working families," said Obama. "It could mean the difference between groceries or the food bank; rent or eviction; scraping by or finally getting ahead. For businesses across the country, it would mean customers with more money in their pockets. And a whole lot of folks out there would probably need less help from government. In fact, working folks shouldn’t have to wait year after year for the minimum wage to go up while CEO pay has never been higher."
This is not only basic decency and fairness, but it also would increase demand and help the overall economy.
Today the spokesman of "The New Republican Party" (trademark pending), Marco Rubio, came out against not only President Obama's request to raise the minimum wage to $9.00, but his comment appears to oppose the very concept of a minimum wage.
“I support people making more than $9. I want people to make as much as they can. I don’t think a minimum wage law works,” Rubio told Charlie Rose. ”We all support — I certainly do — having more taxpayers, meaning more people who are employed. And I want people to make a lot more than $9 — $9 is not enough. The problem is you can’t do that by mandating it in the minimum wage laws. Minimum wage laws have never worked in terms of having the middle class attain more prosperity.” What works, he said, is helping the private sector grow."
Minimum wages actually help people working those jobs buy products, creating demand for an economy that is still well short of a normal demand for goods and services due to the Republican Great Recession of 2008.
Rubio instead wants the same old Romney shit. Tax cuts for the rich and you're on you're own for everyone else.
I'm not the biggest Hillary Clinton fan in the world, but if she runs I think she would decimate Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, Paul Ryan, or any of the right wing losers that the Rs see as "saviors." 2016 should be fun.
