Posting a Diary Entry

Daily Kos welcomes blog articles from readers, known as diaries. The Intro section to a diary should be about three paragraphs long, and is required. The body section is optional, as is the poll, which can have 1 to 15 choices. Descriptive tags are also required to help others find your diary by subject; please don't use "cute" tags.

When you're ready, scroll down below the tags and click Save & Preview. You can edit your diary after it's published by clicking Edit Diary. Polls cannot be edited once they are published.

If this is your first time creating a Diary since the Ajax upgrade, before you enter any text below, please press Ctrl-F5 and then hold down the Shift Key and press your browser's Reload button to refresh its cache with the new script files.

  1. One diary daily maximum.
  2. Substantive diaries only. If you don't have at least three solid, original paragraphs, you should probably post a comment in an Open Thread.
  3. No repetitive diaries. Take a moment to ensure your topic hasn't been blogged (you can search for Stories and Diaries that already cover this topic), though fresh original analysis is always welcome.
  4. Use the "Body" textbox if your diary entry is longer than three paragraphs.
  5. Any images in your posts must be hosted by an approved image hosting service (one of: imageshack.us, photobucket.com, flickr.com, smugmug.com, allyoucanupload.com, picturetrail.com, mac.com, webshots.com, editgrid.com).
  6. Copying and pasting entire copyrighted works is prohibited. If you do quote something, keep it brief, always provide a link to the original source, and use the <blockquote> tags to clearly identify the quoted material. Violating this rule is grounds for immediate banning.
  7. Be civil. Do not "call out" other users by name in diary titles. Do not use profanity in diary titles. Don't write diaries whose main purpose is to deliberately inflame.

Please begin with an informative title:

Yes, it's plural. M-O-M-S.

Via <Crime Library>,

An astounding 2,300 Americans are reported missing every day, including both adults and children.

But only a tiny fraction of those are stereotypical abductions or kidnappings by a stranger.

Slightly more than half—about 25,500—of the missing are men. About four out of 10 missing adults are white, three of 10 black and two of 10 Latino.

The statistics on that site are eye-opening, alarming and very likely "triggering" for some. We can't be all on-alert for each and every case. The "missing white girl" phenomenon aside, we can - and do - try, as a community and as a nation, to be vigilant when we hear of unusual, involuntary or endangered types of "gone missing" or "abducted" stories.

Just the other day, we were alerted to the abduction of a young white woman - a missing single mom. Just shortly prior to that, a month or so ago, a young black mother of five went missing.

Both young women are mothers. Both are loved by their families. And both should be home, safe, right now.

Mother's Day is May 12.

Let's get the word out about these two women, at least. Let's see if we can put the extra "ooomph" in eyes, ears, clues and awareness that we've been able to put into other extraordinary efforts - can we help get the word out and chatter increased to help authorities find and return these two women to their families, ideally safe and sound, before Mother's Day?

Latrice Maze

Last Seen Wearing: Black slacks, white T-shirt, and a black, yellow, and green-striped scarf on her head.

Identifying Marks or Characteristics: A tattoo with a small heart on upper right buttock.

If you have information regarding the whereabouts of Latrice Maze, please contact the Grand Rapids Police Department at (616) 456-3400 or the Black and Missing Foundation’s confidential Tip Line.
Facebook page (only one I found, but will update if someone can identify a better/preferred one)

Jessica Lynn Heeringa

An update on possible sighting.

These two moms aren't the only two missing people in the nation. They aren't the only two who have gone missing this year, or even within the last 48 hrs or month and half.

But they are someone's daughter, someone's mother, someone's lover & friend.

Both are endangered, and there's a good chance that more, fresh eyes can help authorities reconstruct information and evidence that could help lead to their safe return.

Please share the images widely.

Thank you, and Happy Mother's Day.

You must enter an Intro for your Diary Entry between 300 and 1150 characters long (that's approximately 50-175 words without any html or formatting markup).

Tue May 07, 2013 at 11:55 AM PT: With the unexpected, shocking recovery of three young women who have been missing for several years - up to a decade (Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight - http://usnews.nbcnews.com/...), let's try this again: please review when & where you were at the times that these two missing women vanished, or ask anyone you know who might've been in the area. If you have noticed anything strange or different and it could be related, don't hesitate to call or notify the appropriate authorities.

Let's try to get these two missing women home for Mother's Day.
