Posting a Diary Entry

Daily Kos welcomes blog articles from readers, known as diaries. The Intro section to a diary should be about three paragraphs long, and is required. The body section is optional, as is the poll, which can have 1 to 15 choices. Descriptive tags are also required to help others find your diary by subject; please don't use "cute" tags.

When you're ready, scroll down below the tags and click Save & Preview. You can edit your diary after it's published by clicking Edit Diary. Polls cannot be edited once they are published.

If this is your first time creating a Diary since the Ajax upgrade, before you enter any text below, please press Ctrl-F5 and then hold down the Shift Key and press your browser's Reload button to refresh its cache with the new script files.

ATTENTION: READ THE RULES.

  1. One diary daily maximum.
  2. Substantive diaries only. If you don't have at least three solid, original paragraphs, you should probably post a comment in an Open Thread.
  3. No repetitive diaries. Take a moment to ensure your topic hasn't been blogged (you can search for Stories and Diaries that already cover this topic), though fresh original analysis is always welcome.
  4. Use the "Body" textbox if your diary entry is longer than three paragraphs.
  5. Any images in your posts must be hosted by an approved image hosting service (one of: imageshack.us, photobucket.com, flickr.com, smugmug.com, allyoucanupload.com, picturetrail.com, mac.com, webshots.com, editgrid.com).
  6. Copying and pasting entire copyrighted works is prohibited. If you do quote something, keep it brief, always provide a link to the original source, and use the <blockquote> tags to clearly identify the quoted material. Violating this rule is grounds for immediate banning.
  7. Be civil. Do not "call out" other users by name in diary titles. Do not use profanity in diary titles. Don't write diaries whose main purpose is to deliberately inflame.

Issa Committee Hearing
Most House Republicans think Darrell Issa isn't up to the task of uncovering the real truth about how Benghazi proves that Obama should be impeached.
With the IRS "scandal" completely dead (for the simple fact that it wasn't a scandal in the first place), Republicans are still trying to find a way to breathe new life into Benghazi. And now, Rep. Steve Stockman thinks they've done it:
GOP leaders are coming under new pressure from conservatives to form a special committee to investigate the Benghazi, Libya, attack.

Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas) is circulating a discharge petition to force a House vote on forming the panel, which would investigate events leading up to the terrorist attack last year on the U.S. diplomatic annex in Benghazi, as well as the Obama administration's response.

A discharge petition, if signed by a majority of the House, would force a vote on creating the committee. Unfortunately for the Steve Stockmans of the world, they're a little short of a majority. They do have more than 160 Republicans on board, but while that represents roughly 70 percent of House Republicans, it's far short of the 218 signatures they need.

So, in lieu of a discharge petition with 218 signatures, Stockman has another trick up his sleeve:

Stockman on Tuesday will unveil a 60-foot-long scroll signed by 1,000 special forces veterans who support the committee. Supporters tout it as the largest petition ever presented to Congress, and Stockman plans to unroll it down the Capitol's steps.
Wow. Sixty feet? That's impressive. That's almost as far as the distance between home plate and the pitcher's rubber. What a powerful way to make a statement about the seriousness of Benghazi.

Actually, though, I'm a little surprised that Stockman is content with 60 feet. It just seems like it would be so easy to make a larger petition. Maybe he should photocopy and enlarge it onto a 300 foot scroll. That way he could roll it out across a football field.

And while I'm brainstorming, let me also suggest that the next time Stockman has a bill that he doesn't like, he should reprint it in a super huge font, and then he could probably make the bill be like 432,381 pages. Or maybe even one million trillion pages or something. And then he could scream about how the bill was the largest bill EVER and how could anyone read anything that long? And simply by doing that, he could save America.
