Posting a Diary Entry

Daily Kos welcomes blog articles from readers, known as diaries. The Intro section to a diary should be about three paragraphs long, and is required. The body section is optional, as is the poll, which can have 1 to 15 choices. Descriptive tags are also required to help others find your diary by subject; please don't use "cute" tags.

When you're ready, scroll down below the tags and click Save & Preview. You can edit your diary after it's published by clicking Edit Diary. Polls cannot be edited once they are published.

If this is your first time creating a Diary since the Ajax upgrade, before you enter any text below, please press Ctrl-F5 and then hold down the Shift Key and press your browser's Reload button to refresh its cache with the new script files.

ATTENTION: READ THE RULES.

  1. One diary daily maximum.
  2. Substantive diaries only. If you don't have at least three solid, original paragraphs, you should probably post a comment in an Open Thread.
  3. No repetitive diaries. Take a moment to ensure your topic hasn't been blogged (you can search for Stories and Diaries that already cover this topic), though fresh original analysis is always welcome.
  4. Use the "Body" textbox if your diary entry is longer than three paragraphs.
  5. Any images in your posts must be hosted by an approved image hosting service (one of: imageshack.us, photobucket.com, flickr.com, smugmug.com, allyoucanupload.com, picturetrail.com, mac.com, webshots.com, editgrid.com).
  6. Copying and pasting entire copyrighted works is prohibited. If you do quote something, keep it brief, always provide a link to the original source, and use the <blockquote> tags to clearly identify the quoted material. Violating this rule is grounds for immediate banning.
  7. Be civil. Do not "call out" other users by name in diary titles. Do not use profanity in diary titles. Don't write diaries whose main purpose is to deliberately inflame.

Please begin with an informative title:

And now that it's the end of the summer, and now that we've had all these days of super-hot weather, I figured that maybe we'd like to have this meetup inside for a change. We're going back to North Hollywood and the NoHo Arts District this time, to a bar that serves food, and we're going to assemble at 2 PM, because it turns out, as those of you who came to the May event at Pitfire Pizza surely noticed, there is something of a lunch rush around noon-12:30 PM. This will clear it.

The bar is called The Federal, and it is in fact another venue at the end of the Red Line! Since those of you who came to the meetup at Pitfire in June had no trouble finding it, this is a block CLOSER to the North Hollywood Red Line Station. Just cross the street and walk south.
Intro

You must enter an Intro for your Diary Entry between 300 and 1150 characters long (that's approximately 50-175 words without any html or formatting markup).

As with everyplace we go that I haven't been to, I braved the 100-degree heat on Saturday and went for lunch. It was crowded, but I did see a table for 12  on the Weddington St. side of the restaurant, and the people there assured me that with a reservation a group of 20 wouldn't be a problem for them. This is more reminiscent of Casey's than any place else we've been but, as you can see from this immense beer list behind the bar and that array of taps, we're serious about beer here. Wine too, since at least one of the wines I saw being served by the glass was a LOT better than most of the by-the-glass service I've seen recently.

It might have been updated by the time we gather there.

Interesting lunch menu too, since most of the left hand page is devoted to things that go with beer and are meant to be shared. I know how much you appreciate food pr0n, so here's the Citrus Caesar Salad I had for lunch. Very satisfying, and I love Caesars in which the parmigiano reggiano was shaved off the wheel with a vegetable peeler.

If you're on the email list susans has compiled, you'll receive a message about this too. As always, indicate whether you'll be there in the comments, or kosmail me or susans. This should be fun!

I'll create the RSVP list as it happens, and I'll be teaching when it publishes, but I'll probably be back to tend it by an hour or so after it comes online.
