On Friday's show, right wing talk show host Rush Limbaugh spent time blaming teachers for turning our nation's children into a bunch of multiculture-loving pansies.
"Here's the problem in a nutshell. And I don't even know how many of the rank and file teachers are even aware of this. They're just who they are. They're products of their own education, and they believe the crap they've been taught, and they teach it, and they become activists, but the purpose of union control is curriculum control.
The schools have been turned into propaganda re-education camps. And that's why you can't fire a teacher, and that's why teachers unions do not want any review of the teachers. They don't want any performance-based pay, merit based. They don't want any review or testing of the teachers to find out how they're doing or what they know.
The left powers that be organizers have known for the longest time get hold of education, and they control it from kindergarten on up, all the way up to colleges and universities.
You get hold of these young skulls full of mush, at very young impressionable ages, and start teaching them what now's this multicultural curriculum, which basically is that Western civilization is near criminal. Western civilization is corrupt and it's a lie. White Europeans arriving here is what led to all the problems and so forth. The country is immoral in the way it was structured and founded and all that. It's it's it's it's hideous. It's obscene."
In the case of education, Limbaugh doesn't have much--he dropped out of college after only two semesters. The childless dolt recently wrote a children's book as well, which he hopes will correct the terrible misinformation being spread by teachers who believe chldren should learn about such bleeding-heart liberal concepts as "Native Americans" and "smallpox epidemics."
Limbaugh's lack of education might explain his mischaracterization of the teaching profession.
Or perhaps it's better explained by the fact that he's a miserable asshole who can't conceive of a group of people working hard for crappy wages without some sort of sinister agenda.
Either way, the notion that teachers are bullying children into self-loathing without any accountability is incredibly far fetched and something that only Limbaugh's slack-jawed listeners would buy.
Education is all about accountability. Teachers everywhere are required to teach curriculum that is developed by Departments of Education at the Federal and state levels--not written by unions. The curriculum is designed to give children practical skills that will give them the opportunity to succeed in life--writing, math, science, and yes, a knowledge of actual historical events that Limbaugh seems so troubled by.
Teachers are required to submit to regular, standardized classroom observations by administrators multiple times a year. And if those evaluation results are not up to standards they are required to take corrective action until they are.
El Rushbo really needs to stick to topics he actually knows something about. But who would actually tune in to a 3 hour program about cigars and OxyContin?
Decent folks who believe in tolerance and equality are no longer powerless against Limbaugh's efforts to spread intolerance on the radio.
