Posting a Diary Entry

Daily Kos welcomes blog articles from readers, known as diaries. The Intro section to a diary should be about three paragraphs long, and is required. The body section is optional, as is the poll, which can have 1 to 15 choices. Descriptive tags are also required to help others find your diary by subject; please don't use "cute" tags.

When you're ready, scroll down below the tags and click Save & Preview. You can edit your diary after it's published by clicking Edit Diary. Polls cannot be edited once they are published.

If this is your first time creating a Diary since the Ajax upgrade, before you enter any text below, please press Ctrl-F5 and then hold down the Shift Key and press your browser's Reload button to refresh its cache with the new script files.

  1. One diary daily maximum.
  2. Substantive diaries only. If you don't have at least three solid, original paragraphs, you should probably post a comment in an Open Thread.
  3. No repetitive diaries. Take a moment to ensure your topic hasn't been blogged (you can search for Stories and Diaries that already cover this topic), though fresh original analysis is always welcome.
  4. Use the "Body" textbox if your diary entry is longer than three paragraphs.
  5. Any images in your posts must be hosted by an approved image hosting service (one of: imageshack.us, photobucket.com, flickr.com, smugmug.com, allyoucanupload.com, picturetrail.com, mac.com, webshots.com, editgrid.com).
  6. Copying and pasting entire copyrighted works is prohibited. If you do quote something, keep it brief, always provide a link to the original source, and use the <blockquote> tags to clearly identify the quoted material. Violating this rule is grounds for immediate banning.
  7. Be civil. Do not "call out" other users by name in diary titles. Do not use profanity in diary titles. Don't write diaries whose main purpose is to deliberately inflame.

Please begin with an informative title:

Rose colored glasses helps one look at the world with an attitude that things are better than they really are. Certainly when discussing the Republican party, Fox News Network has taken this approach. According to them, racism no longer exists, God’s on our side, and poor people do not need a safety net, they just need to work harder. When the topic turns to Obama, there is absolutely nothing the man has ever done right. Quite simply, FOX has their own set of lenses in which to view America. FOX colored glasses distort the reality  of America in a way that is so perverse it is actually borderline immoral.

So I was listening to this old song from a group I enjoyed called Animal Logic. The band members are Deborah Holland, Stewart Copeland, and Stanley Clarke. The song is from their 1991 album Animal Logic II. While listening, I was also reading  a Facebook post about the idiocy of FOX news and for some reason I thought of replacing the word rose with FOX. I think the lyrics make perfect sense.

So in an effort to call attention to FOX’s blatant lies and to honor an old song which I still enjoy, here is a new version with the changed lyrics.

You must enter an Intro for your Diary Entry between 300 and 1150 characters long (that's approximately 50-175 words without any html or formatting markup).

It’s a one way world that I’m lookin’ at
It’s a heartless state I’m in
It’s a nervous time and because of that
I stay right where I’ve been

A hundred dreams gettin’ carried away
That won’t be dreamed again
When something’s wrong, and you’ve known it all along
It’s easier to pretend

I need a pair of FOX colored glasses
To see it all in a different light
I need a pair of FOX colored glasses
I’m sick of seein’ the world in black and white
I need a pair of FOX colored glasses FOX colored glasses

It’s a dead end street I’ve been running down
To a hard line place I’ve come
It’s a lonely drive through a broken town
No matter where you’re from
One more heart gettin’ buried alive
Don’t misunderstand
When you can’t breathe, gettin’ weaker in the knees
You hide your head in the sand

But if I saw the world as perfect I’d no longer care
So smash the glass and throw them out
Cause I don’t want to wear FOX colored glasses
