Posting a Diary Entry

Daily Kos welcomes blog articles from readers, known as diaries. The Intro section to a diary should be about three paragraphs long, and is required. The body section is optional, as is the poll, which can have 1 to 15 choices. Descriptive tags are also required to help others find your diary by subject; please don't use "cute" tags.

When you're ready, scroll down below the tags and click Save & Preview. You can edit your diary after it's published by clicking Edit Diary. Polls cannot be edited once they are published.

If this is your first time creating a Diary since the Ajax upgrade, before you enter any text below, please press Ctrl-F5 and then hold down the Shift Key and press your browser's Reload button to refresh its cache with the new script files.

ATTENTION: READ THE RULES.

  1. One diary daily maximum.
  2. Substantive diaries only. If you don't have at least three solid, original paragraphs, you should probably post a comment in an Open Thread.
  3. No repetitive diaries. Take a moment to ensure your topic hasn't been blogged (you can search for Stories and Diaries that already cover this topic), though fresh original analysis is always welcome.
  4. Use the "Body" textbox if your diary entry is longer than three paragraphs.
  5. Any images in your posts must be hosted by an approved image hosting service (one of: imageshack.us, photobucket.com, flickr.com, smugmug.com, allyoucanupload.com, picturetrail.com, mac.com, webshots.com, editgrid.com).
  6. Copying and pasting entire copyrighted works is prohibited. If you do quote something, keep it brief, always provide a link to the original source, and use the <blockquote> tags to clearly identify the quoted material. Violating this rule is grounds for immediate banning.
  7. Be civil. Do not "call out" other users by name in diary titles. Do not use profanity in diary titles. Don't write diaries whose main purpose is to deliberately inflame.

Please begin with an informative title:

West Virgnia Secretary of State Natalie Tennant listens as arguments are presented in front of the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia regarding whether or not a special election should be held for the governor&#x27;s seat vacated by Joe Manchin when he was elected to the U.S. Senate, Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011 in Charleston, W.Va. Received this e-mail from Natalie Tennant (D. WV) Regarding Rep. Shelley Moore Capito (R. WV) and the government shutdown:

If Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito and her reckless colleagues allowed a simple majority vote, the government shutdown would be over.

Instead, she’s showing whom she stands for: special interests that don’t care about West Virginia.

Believe me, I’m as outraged as you.

Congresswoman Capito’s responsible for the men and women of the National Guard who have been sent home from the bases in Martinsburg and Charleston, the furloughed inspectors who can’t investigate a toxic chemical leak in South Charleston, the federal mine inspectors who can’t ensure the health and safety of our coal miners and the small businesses hurt by the closing of our national parks.

She’s been with her party and the special interests 100%. She’s forgotten the people who elected her.

Let’s remind her. Right now, will you sign my petition demanding Congresswoman Capito vote to end the shutdown before more damage is done to West Virginia? She’s got to hear from us.

Congress should not stand in the way of its people. That’s why I am running for the U.S. Senate. We need someone who will stand up for our West Virginia values and not what Washington wants.

If I were there now, my message to both sides of the aisle would be this: work together to return to serving the people, use common sense and do it the West Virginia way.

Congresswoman Capito isn’t saying that. She’s part of the obstruction and it’s hurting West Virginia.

We need to tell her to cut it out now. Hardworking families, small businesses, service members and veterans deserve better.

Add your voice and tell Congresswoman Capito: End this harmful shutdown:

Thanks for standing with me for West Virginia,

Natalie
