Posting a Diary Entry

Daily Kos welcomes blog articles from readers, known as diaries. The Intro section to a diary should be about three paragraphs long, and is required. The body section is optional, as is the poll, which can have 1 to 15 choices. Descriptive tags are also required to help others find your diary by subject; please don't use "cute" tags.

When you're ready, scroll down below the tags and click Save & Preview. You can edit your diary after it's published by clicking Edit Diary. Polls cannot be edited once they are published.

If this is your first time creating a Diary since the Ajax upgrade, before you enter any text below, please press Ctrl-F5 and then hold down the Shift Key and press your browser's Reload button to refresh its cache with the new script files.

  1. One diary daily maximum.
  2. Substantive diaries only. If you don't have at least three solid, original paragraphs, you should probably post a comment in an Open Thread.
  3. No repetitive diaries. Take a moment to ensure your topic hasn't been blogged (you can search for Stories and Diaries that already cover this topic), though fresh original analysis is always welcome.
  4. Use the "Body" textbox if your diary entry is longer than three paragraphs.
  5. Any images in your posts must be hosted by an approved image hosting service (one of: imageshack.us, photobucket.com, flickr.com, smugmug.com, allyoucanupload.com, picturetrail.com, mac.com, webshots.com, editgrid.com).
  6. Copying and pasting entire copyrighted works is prohibited. If you do quote something, keep it brief, always provide a link to the original source, and use the <blockquote> tags to clearly identify the quoted material. Violating this rule is grounds for immediate banning.
  7. Be civil. Do not "call out" other users by name in diary titles. Do not use profanity in diary titles. Don't write diaries whose main purpose is to deliberately inflame.

9:34 AM PT: Next question is back to health care: Can the president assure all Americans the website will be 100 percent functional as of November 30, and is the reason things haven't gone smoothly that the White House is too insular.

9:37 AM PT: Obama starts out by taking the second question first: Basically says the WH needs to review itself, but also says Federal government isn't great at IT procurement. On the first question: "It will be working much better on December 1 ... the majority of people who go to the website will see a website that is operation as it should" but adds he cannot guarantee that it will be working for 100 percent of the people 100 percent of the time.

9:39 AM PT: "Buying health insurance is never going to be like buying a song on iTunes." Maybe Zune, though.

9:43 AM PT: Obama is still answering the same, question but this just got tweeted out:

Florida insurance officials have said they will cooperate with admin fix, per statement from @SenBillNelson

9:44 AM PT: Ironically, the next question is about how confident Obama is on whether state insurance commissioners will cooperate with his fix. Obama: "My guess is, right away, you're going to see state insurance commissioners" take advantage of the fix. Case in point: Florida, as tweeted above (which presumably he doesn't know yet, so if you're reading this, you're ahead of the president).

9:49 AM PT:
Scoop: 2014 sen dem kay hagan just told @tedbarrettcnn she still wants landrieu legislation bc its permanent fix, not 1 year

Obama did say he was open to additional action from congress, so this might be more of an "addition to" not simply "instead of" kind of thing.

9:55 AM PT: And President Obama's briefing and press conference is now over.

10:02 AM PT: Howard Dean on MSNBC acknowledges that there's been a lot of piling on from pundits, and that even some of Obama's supporters are demoralized, but adds this point: "The web site will get fixed, this will get better, and Obamacare will be the law of the land—and guess what? It will work."

You must enter an Intro for your Diary Entry between 300 and 1150 characters long (that's approximately 50-175 words without any html or formatting markup).
