Posting a Diary Entry

Daily Kos welcomes blog articles from readers, known as diaries. The Intro section to a diary should be about three paragraphs long, and is required. The body section is optional, as is the poll, which can have 1 to 15 choices. Descriptive tags are also required to help others find your diary by subject; please don't use "cute" tags.

When you're ready, scroll down below the tags and click Save & Preview. You can edit your diary after it's published by clicking Edit Diary. Polls cannot be edited once they are published.

If this is your first time creating a Diary since the Ajax upgrade, before you enter any text below, please press Ctrl-F5 and then hold down the Shift Key and press your browser's Reload button to refresh its cache with the new script files.

  1. One diary daily maximum.
  2. Substantive diaries only. If you don't have at least three solid, original paragraphs, you should probably post a comment in an Open Thread.
  3. No repetitive diaries. Take a moment to ensure your topic hasn't been blogged (you can search for Stories and Diaries that already cover this topic), though fresh original analysis is always welcome.
  4. Use the "Body" textbox if your diary entry is longer than three paragraphs.
  5. Any images in your posts must be hosted by an approved image hosting service (one of: imageshack.us, photobucket.com, flickr.com, smugmug.com, allyoucanupload.com, picturetrail.com, mac.com, webshots.com, editgrid.com).
  6. Copying and pasting entire copyrighted works is prohibited. If you do quote something, keep it brief, always provide a link to the original source, and use the <blockquote> tags to clearly identify the quoted material. Violating this rule is grounds for immediate banning.
  7. Be civil. Do not "call out" other users by name in diary titles. Do not use profanity in diary titles. Don't write diaries whose main purpose is to deliberately inflame.

Please begin with an informative title:

This one is going to surprise you.

A progressive billionaire philanthropist from one of the most progressive parts of the country is now snuggling beneath the sheets with sweaty, Viagra-popping right wing hate machine Rush Limbaugh.

Seattle's Paul Allen is co-founder of Microsoft and owner of the NFL's Seattle Seahawks and NBA's Portland Trailblazers. His Paul G. Allen Family Foundation has worked to support many progressive causes, including enhancing environmental responsibility in sport, supporting Native American communities in the Pacific Northwest, and fighting poverty in Seattle by opening Financial Empowerment Centers aimed at teaching people to manage finances effectively.

Allen recently ponied up a much-needed $30 million cash infusion for TrueCar, an internet-based company that offers information to car buyers.

The exact same day news of Allen's investment broke, TrueCar began a major advertising campaign on the Rush Limbaugh Show, airing ads Monday to Friday from New York to San Diego:

In 2012, Allen lost his mother, 90 year old retired Seattle schoolteacher.  Paul Allen's foundation has been quite generous in its support for public school teachers.

Limbaugh, on the other hand, has referred to teachers as anti-democratic and as leeches and ticks on a dog's back.

Rather than respecting teachers like Faye Allen for working a lifetime at laughable wages, motivated simply by a desire to help children realize their potential, Limbaugh sees them as the primary instruments in a sinister plot to use propaganda to turn our children into self-loathing multiculture-embracers:

"You get hold of these young skulls full of mush, at very young impressionable ages, and start teaching them what now's this multicultural curriculum, which basically is that Western civilization is near criminal.  Western civilization is corrupt and it's a lie.  White Europeans arriving here is what led to all the problems and so forth.  The country is immoral in the way it was structured and founded and all that.  It's it's it's it's hideous.  It's obscene."

But Limbaugh's disdain for public school teacher is just the beginning.

By advertising on the Rush Limbaugh Show, TrueCar and investor Paul Allen are supporting the following hateful content:

Limbaugh calling single mothers "semen receptacles"

Limbaugh using rape as a metaphor for political reform.

Limbaugh making cruel jokes about black slavery

Limbaugh calling for abortions to be performed with a gun

Limbaugh claiming it's a scientific fact that Mexicans are lazy and saying they're so fat they should be easy to spot sneaking over the border

Limbaugh suggesting that poor kids should eat from dumpsters
