Contrary to facts already in evidence, as to his governing style, the beleaguered New Jersey Governor yesterday, proceeded to fall back on the last refuge of all "trapped CEOs" -- he denies having knowledge of the aggrievous events.

He feigns outrage at the audacity of his closest aids.

He acts compassionately toward the harm and inconvenience his staff imposed upon his citizens.

REPORTER: "You understand why people would have a hard time believing it that you didn't know about the lane closures, considering your management style and the focus of your cabinet, and you didn't know about it, what does that say about your ability to lead?"

CHRISTIE: "Well, listen, I am -- there's this, you know, kind of reputation out there of me being a micro-manager. I'm not -- I think if you talk to my staff, what they would tell you is that I delegate enormous authority to my staff, and enormous authority to my cabinet, and I tell them, come to me with the policy decisions that need to be made, with some high-level personnel decisions that need to be made, but I do not manage in that kind of micro way, first. Second, there's no way that anybody would think that I know about everything that's going on, not only in every agency of government at all times, but also every independent authority that New Jersey either has on its own or by state, both with New York, with Pennsylvania, and with Delaware. So what I can tell you is, if people find that hard to believe, I don't know what else to say except to tell them that I had no knowledge of this, the planning, the execution, or anything about it, and that I first found out about it after it was over. And even then, what I was told was that it was a traffic study, and there was no evidence to the contrary until yesterday that was brought to my attention or anyone else's attention. And so I understand why people would ask that question, and I understand your question completely, but what I also what to tell the people is, that even with all that being said, it's still my responsibility. I didn't know about it, but it's my responsibility because I’m the governor. So I’m taking that responsibility and taking actions appropriate with executing the responsibility in accord with what the information is today.”

Perhaps a larger mirror in order, Governor?

You were anything but "distant" when touring the Jersey Damage after hurricane Sandy (although kind of MIA in the reconstruction phase, we'll grant you).

You were anything but "hands-off" when downsizing of New Jersey public employees, a few years ago. Where was your compassion and empathy then, Governor?

Where was your Macro-aloofness management style then, Mr Executive sir?

Of course most Micro-Managers, probably don't even know they have the problem. The way they see it, they are simply "controlling the outcomes," that they want to see.

Understanding Micromanagers and Control Freaks

Paranoid incompetent micromanagers, who successfully combine tight control of minute details/procedures used in performing assignments with toxic incompetence are the most common type of corporate psychopaths. They are especially prolific in IT departments of corporations. They are often called "control freaks" (CF).

Narcissistic Managers:  Type 4 of Corporate Psychopaths

The narcissist is just one type of corporate psychopath and it shares probably more then 90% of traits with the general case of psychopathic manager whose true character is disguised behind an image he/she wants to project.

It goes without saying that like all psychopaths any narcissist is always a bully and they share many personal and behavioral traits with them (see Behavior of the serial bully for the original list). [...] among typical signs of narcissism we can mention those listed in Diagnostic criteria for 301.81 Narcissistic Personality Disorder:

   A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of the following:

    (1) has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements)

    (2) is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love

    (3) believes that he or she is "special" and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions)

    (4) requires excessive admiration

    (5) has a sense of entitlement, i.e., unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations

    (6) is interpersonally exploitative, i.e., takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends

    (7) lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others

    (8) is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him or her

    (9) shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes

Like all psychopaths narcissists lack empathy and consider co-workers, subordinates and family members as objects that can be instrumental in achieving certain goals (tools). It should be stressed that for narcissist they are not humans they are just tools.

Is Chris Christie one of those Narcissistic Managers?  Or is he the most humble public servant that you will ever find?

Or something else altogether ... an Opportunist, BS-artist extraordinaire, perhaps?

Well, the jury of Public Opinion is still out, deliberating Chris Christie's eventual political fate.
