Posting a Diary Entry
Daily Kos welcomes blog articles from readers, known as diaries. The Intro section to a diary should be about three paragraphs long, and is required. The body section is optional, as
is the poll, which can have 1 to 15 choices. Descriptive tags are also required to help others find your diary by subject; please don't use "cute" tags.
When you're ready, scroll down below the tags and click Save & Preview. You can edit your diary after it's published by clicking Edit Diary. Polls cannot be edited once they are published.
If this is your first time creating a Diary since the Ajax upgrade, before you enter any text below, please press Ctrl-F5 and then hold down the Shift Key and press your browser's Reload button to refresh its cache with the new script files.
ATTENTION: READ THE RULES.
One diary daily maximum.
Substantive diaries only. If you don't have at least three solid, original paragraphs, you should probably post a comment in an Open Thread.
No repetitive diaries. Take a moment to ensure your topic hasn't been blogged (you can search for Stories and Diaries
that already cover this topic), though fresh original analysis is always welcome.
Use the "Body" textbox if your diary entry is longer than three paragraphs.
Any images in your posts must be hosted by an approved image hosting service (one of: imageshack.us, photobucket.com, flickr.com, smugmug.com, allyoucanupload.com, picturetrail.com, mac.com, webshots.com, editgrid.com).
Copying and pasting entire copyrighted works is prohibited. If you do quote something, keep it brief, always provide a link to the original source, and use the <blockquote> tags to clearly identify the quoted material. Violating this rule is grounds for immediate banning.
Be civil. Do not "call out" other users by name in diary titles. Do not use profanity in diary titles. Don't write diaries whose main purpose is to deliberately inflame.
All you have to do in the State of Florida is just get really angry about the color black and you think you have a license to kill. That Trayvon Martin case worked out so well didn't it? I mean justice prevailed in the sunshine state.. Right !!!
We have an idea that this partying bully of a Dad didn't say thug either. Wanna bet he used a word to describe his real racial outlook on this culture of music?
Another black teen is dead and we have another wronged old white dude. Is Angela Corey directing this trial as well I wonder.
Michael Dunn, 47, faces first-degree murder charges in the death of 17-year-old Jordan Davis on Nov. 23, 2012.
The white, middle-aged software engineer opened fire on a car with four black teenagers that was parked next to him outside a gas station and convenience store in Florida's northeast city of Jacksonville.
Dunn has said he feared for his life, drawing comparisons to George Zimmerman, the former central Florida neighborhood watch guard who was acquitted of murder last year after saying he shot Trayvon Martin, another black 17-year-old, in self-defense.
Dunn said he had asked the teenagers to turn down their music. From the back passenger seat, Davis refused and the two exchanged words. Dunn says he opened fire because he thought he saw the barrel of a shotgun pointed out the back window at him, though police found no weapon.
How much courage does it take to murder a 17 year old kid? This guy Dunn had plans for a nice day but he could not let his bigotry go for one afternoon. I suspect he was showing off his macho image to his son in law. The papers stated he had a few drinks as he escorted his daughter and new son in law after the wedding. The man didn't even consider anyone's choice of music and not only did the white guy feel he had a right to bark out orders regarding the type music but that he was the only one with an opinion or voice in what played over the airwaves.
This is Duvall County and if I were the dude, I would be a bit nervous. Jacksonville has a larger African American community than does Sanford but of course it's still Florida. I don't hold out for too much justice. I do hope for a more sensible jury.
