Posting a Diary Entry

Daily Kos welcomes blog articles from readers, known as diaries. The Intro section to a diary should be about three paragraphs long, and is required. The body section is optional, as is the poll, which can have 1 to 15 choices. Descriptive tags are also required to help others find your diary by subject; please don't use "cute" tags.

When you're ready, scroll down below the tags and click Save & Preview. You can edit your diary after it's published by clicking Edit Diary. Polls cannot be edited once they are published.

If this is your first time creating a Diary since the Ajax upgrade, before you enter any text below, please press Ctrl-F5 and then hold down the Shift Key and press your browser's Reload button to refresh its cache with the new script files.

  1. One diary daily maximum.
  2. Substantive diaries only. If you don't have at least three solid, original paragraphs, you should probably post a comment in an Open Thread.
  3. No repetitive diaries. Take a moment to ensure your topic hasn't been blogged (you can search for Stories and Diaries that already cover this topic), though fresh original analysis is always welcome.
  4. Use the "Body" textbox if your diary entry is longer than three paragraphs.
  5. Any images in your posts must be hosted by an approved image hosting service (one of: imageshack.us, photobucket.com, flickr.com, smugmug.com, allyoucanupload.com, picturetrail.com, mac.com, webshots.com, editgrid.com).
  6. Copying and pasting entire copyrighted works is prohibited. If you do quote something, keep it brief, always provide a link to the original source, and use the <blockquote> tags to clearly identify the quoted material. Violating this rule is grounds for immediate banning.
  7. Be civil. Do not "call out" other users by name in diary titles. Do not use profanity in diary titles. Don't write diaries whose main purpose is to deliberately inflame.

Please begin with an informative title:

MDP Chair Ben Grant writes in his blog:

While we weren’t treated to the kind of, um, “drama” that the Paul people created at the 2012 MEGOPSC, we still learned some important things about the state of their Party and the 2014 elections. In no particular order:

1) The Unity thing is real. With LePage at the top of the ticket, the GOP apparatus has been whipped into line and they are fully behind the Gov’s reelection effort.

When Rick Scott and the policies of Scott Walker are held up as ideals of government....you have a problem with a lot of voters. LePage's many vetoes are starting to catch up to him, but the Republicans are going "All in"
2) The Unity thing is a problem… when you’re unified behind a flawed candidate and failed policies. ........ Their problem is that LePage himself, and the conservative agenda as a whole, have limited appeal.
The only reason LePage ( seemingly stuck at 37% ) has a shot at 4 more years is that a third party candidate is again in the race. LePage has been a disaster for the economy of Maine, breaking contracts, refusing to spend voter approved bond money, and vetoing the Medicaid expansion.
3) Dear Democrats who voted for Barack Obama: if you crossover and vote for Susan Collins, you will make the rest of us very confused. Did you see the red meat she delivered to the GOP faithful? It was all about Obama. She doesn’t support him or his agenda. The vote in 2012 wasn’t just for Obama the person; it was for Obama the President. We need that support to continue this year, too. Vote Bellows.
Sen Susan Collins decides to double down on RW talking points, railing against Obamacare, the IRS, judicial appointments, executive branch overreach, deficit spending ( while ignoring Marriage Equality, the shutdown, NSA spying, the Paycheck Fairness Act, LGBT Rights, KXL, TPP, and the torture report).

Rand Paul went on about unions and Benghazi.

Read more about Maine races, and Ben's thoughts on why Rand Paul will never be President. (NewsFlash, it isn't the Dems that do him in).
