Posting a Diary Entry

Daily Kos welcomes blog articles from readers, known as diaries. The Intro section to a diary should be about three paragraphs long, and is required. The body section is optional, as is the poll, which can have 1 to 15 choices. Descriptive tags are also required to help others find your diary by subject; please don't use "cute" tags.

When you're ready, scroll down below the tags and click Save & Preview. You can edit your diary after it's published by clicking Edit Diary. Polls cannot be edited once they are published.

If this is your first time creating a Diary since the Ajax upgrade, before you enter any text below, please press Ctrl-F5 and then hold down the Shift Key and press your browser's Reload button to refresh its cache with the new script files.

  1. One diary daily maximum.
  2. Substantive diaries only. If you don't have at least three solid, original paragraphs, you should probably post a comment in an Open Thread.
  3. No repetitive diaries. Take a moment to ensure your topic hasn't been blogged (you can search for Stories and Diaries that already cover this topic), though fresh original analysis is always welcome.
  4. Use the "Body" textbox if your diary entry is longer than three paragraphs.
  5. Any images in your posts must be hosted by an approved image hosting service (one of: imageshack.us, photobucket.com, flickr.com, smugmug.com, allyoucanupload.com, picturetrail.com, mac.com, webshots.com, editgrid.com).
  6. Copying and pasting entire copyrighted works is prohibited. If you do quote something, keep it brief, always provide a link to the original source, and use the <blockquote> tags to clearly identify the quoted material. Violating this rule is grounds for immediate banning.
  7. Be civil. Do not "call out" other users by name in diary titles. Do not use profanity in diary titles. Don't write diaries whose main purpose is to deliberately inflame.

Please begin with an informative title:

A very important mnemonic about the little rule change the GOP hoped we wouldn't notice. Thanks To Chris Van Hollen, we learned the truth, and Liberal media will continue to remind the American voters all the way to the Midterm elections - and beyond.
Published on YouTube, Oct 12, 2013 by  U.S. Representative Chris Van Hollen (D-Maryland)
Late in the evening on September 30, 2013, the House Rules Committee Republicans changed the Rules of the House so that the ONLY Member allowed to call up the Senate's clean CR for a vote was Majority Leader Eric Cantor or his designee -- all but guaranteeing the government would shut down a few hours later and would stay shut down. Previously, any Member would have had the right to bring the CR up for a vote. Democracy has been suspended in the House of Representatives
Here is the video:

Many are very grateful to Chris Van Hollen for catching and calling out House Republicans. The GOP planned and altered government law. Now we know, and as this video circulates mainstream and social media, it can only mean more disaster for the 'Tea-publicans' who held this country hostage and wasted over $24 billion of our tax dollars.

The following definition of sedition. It's is reported that the GOP members involved in conspiring the government shutdown, have committed acts of treason, and should be punished by law.

18 U.S.C. § 2384 : US Code - Section 2384:
Seditious Conspiracy
If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.
Will anyone be indicted? Probably not. But there's gonna be hell to pay come Midterm Elections this November. How this minority group of extreme right-wing politicians figured they would come out looking good after a rigged government shutdown, is beyond anyone's imagination, other than their own. These lawmakers have truly lost touch or don't care about what the American people want. The GOP continues to show us by the bills they block, that they couldn't care less about children in need, veterans, women, blacks, lgbt, students… or the poor and disadvantaged. But why should the Tea Party care? These politicians are funded and ruled by greedy, corrupt, and filthy rich folks like the Koch brothers, big banks, and huge corporations. The everyday people mean nothing; that is, until the people get out to vote.

Americans are angry. We are sick of the GOP's hate/obstruction towards President Obama, we are sick of the obscene waste of our tax dollars, and we are sick of the perpetual ring of Republican sleaze.

Unlike previous years, many predict there will be a record number of Democrats (new and old) turning out at the polls this November - especially by women. The U.S. citizens are desperate for change, and in 2014 - they aim to make that change happen with their voices and their votes. Use this video to remind friends and family about the wasteful and illegal $24 billion Republican Government Shutdown. Think of how many millions of hard-working people could have used the extra money that was taken out of their paychecks every week for taxes. Instead we have witnessed, time and time agin, Republicans using our money to spite a president, while ignoring the welfare of the American people… Oh yes, a change coming. And it's coming with a fury.
Special thanks to John Dean, author of books on Watergate and counsel to President Nixon discusses the legalities of obstructionism in his: latest Verdict piece.
