Posting a Diary Entry
Daily Kos welcomes blog articles from readers, known as diaries. The Intro section to a diary should be about three paragraphs long, and is required. The body section is optional, as
is the poll, which can have 1 to 15 choices. Descriptive tags are also required to help others find your diary by subject; please don't use "cute" tags.
When you're ready, scroll down below the tags and click Save & Preview. You can edit your diary after it's published by clicking Edit Diary. Polls cannot be edited once they are published.
If this is your first time creating a Diary since the Ajax upgrade, before you enter any text below, please press Ctrl-F5 and then hold down the Shift Key and press your browser's Reload button to refresh its cache with the new script files.
ATTENTION: READ THE RULES.
One diary daily maximum.
Substantive diaries only. If you don't have at least three solid, original paragraphs, you should probably post a comment in an Open Thread.
No repetitive diaries. Take a moment to ensure your topic hasn't been blogged (you can search for Stories and Diaries
that already cover this topic), though fresh original analysis is always welcome.
Use the "Body" textbox if your diary entry is longer than three paragraphs.
Any images in your posts must be hosted by an approved image hosting service (one of: imageshack.us, photobucket.com, flickr.com, smugmug.com, allyoucanupload.com, picturetrail.com, mac.com, webshots.com, editgrid.com).
Copying and pasting entire copyrighted works is prohibited. If you do quote something, keep it brief, always provide a link to the original source, and use the <blockquote> tags to clearly identify the quoted material. Violating this rule is grounds for immediate banning.
Be civil. Do not "call out" other users by name in diary titles. Do not use profanity in diary titles. Don't write diaries whose main purpose is to deliberately inflame.
This is just a quick diary to let you know that the Houston Area Kossacks group will be holding our next meet-up on Saturday, August 30, at 1:00 PM. We've gone a couple of months without a meet-up because of scheduling conflicts and what-not, but it looks like we're on for this month for real. This time, we will be meeting at Simply Pho in Midtown. It's a lovely little Vietnamese restaurant whose name is deceiving--it's not simply pho and there is actually a wide variety of Vietnamese food, all of which is yum from my experience. There is usually ample parking in the rear of the restaurant (off of Anita Street), so that hopefully shouldn't be an issue.
This will be our 17th meet-up. We're looking forward to seeing both some familiar faces and hopefully some new ones, too! Here's the meet-up info recap:
Date: Saturday, August 30 Time: 1:00 PM Place:Simply Pho, 2929 Milam Street Cuisine: Vietnamese
If you live in the Houston area--or if you're here temporarily and want to stop by--please feel free to come. I just ask that you RSVP as soon as possible (and by no later than Thursday, August 28). Guests are more than welcome, but please let me know in your RSVP how many people are coming so I can give the restaurant an accurate count. Also, if you're not sure if you can make it, I can put you on the "maybe" list, but please let me know by August 28 whether or not you can make it. If I don't hear from you, I will assume you can't make it, and you won't be included in the final count. You can RSVP either by commenting in this diary or by sending me a Kosmail. Don't miss out on this meet-up!
Also, if you're from the Houston area and haven't joined the Houston Area Kossacks group, feel free to send me a Kosmail to request to join. We do all of our communication via e-mail, however, so please also include an e-mail address so we can keep you in the loop!
Looking forward to seeing everybody at Simply Pho!
