Posting a Diary Entry

Daily Kos welcomes blog articles from readers, known as diaries. The Intro section to a diary should be about three paragraphs long, and is required. The body section is optional, as is the poll, which can have 1 to 15 choices. Descriptive tags are also required to help others find your diary by subject; please don't use "cute" tags.

When you're ready, scroll down below the tags and click Save & Preview. You can edit your diary after it's published by clicking Edit Diary. Polls cannot be edited once they are published.

If this is your first time creating a Diary since the Ajax upgrade, before you enter any text below, please press Ctrl-F5 and then hold down the Shift Key and press your browser's Reload button to refresh its cache with the new script files.

  1. One diary daily maximum.
  2. Substantive diaries only. If you don't have at least three solid, original paragraphs, you should probably post a comment in an Open Thread.
  3. No repetitive diaries. Take a moment to ensure your topic hasn't been blogged (you can search for Stories and Diaries that already cover this topic), though fresh original analysis is always welcome.
  4. Use the "Body" textbox if your diary entry is longer than three paragraphs.
  5. Any images in your posts must be hosted by an approved image hosting service (one of: imageshack.us, photobucket.com, flickr.com, smugmug.com, allyoucanupload.com, picturetrail.com, mac.com, webshots.com, editgrid.com).
  6. Copying and pasting entire copyrighted works is prohibited. If you do quote something, keep it brief, always provide a link to the original source, and use the <blockquote> tags to clearly identify the quoted material. Violating this rule is grounds for immediate banning.
  7. Be civil. Do not "call out" other users by name in diary titles. Do not use profanity in diary titles. Don't write diaries whose main purpose is to deliberately inflame.

Please begin with an informative title:

A friend of the shooter called into a talk radio station to give his version of the incident. I have transcribed the woman's account below. From what I've heard, it completely contradicts everything the three witnesses have stated. And frankly, it paints Michael Brown as a drug crazed maniac hell bent on confrontation…which is why I'm having a hard time swallowing it.

For one, since it vastly differs from eye-witness testimony that's been blaring for the past five to six days in the media, why did it take the cops so long to come up with this? Given the explosive nature of what this woman alleges, I would think the cops would've been out in the media, front and center.

You must enter an Intro for your Diary Entry between 300 and 1150 characters long (that's approximately 50-175 words without any html or formatting markup).

HERE IS MOST OF WHAT THE WOMAN SAID. I stopped typing at one point because I was too disgusted to finish. Anyway, here goes:

FRIEND OF COP: It's been really really hard to be quiet because I do know his version of the story. And uh, I haven't…seems like everyone only is talking about the other side. I understand they haven't gotten to hear his side. Um, and I've been afraid to say anything---I think we all are. Um, all his friends, and family. Um, but I just feel like I just need to put out there his version of events so maybe people can consider them as the truth if nothing else….So you want me to kind of run down [everything]?

REPORTER: Absolutely.

FRIEND OF COP: Okay.  So he said that um, they were walking in the middle of the street, and he rolled his window down and said, "Come on, guys, get out of the street." Um, they refused to and were yelling back that they were almost to where they were going, and there was some cussing involved, um… and then he just kept rolling up. And I believe at that point he called for backup, but I'm not sure. Um, but I know he pulled up ahead of them, he was watching them and then he gets a call in that there was a strong arm robbery, and they give the description, and he's looking at 'em and they've got something in their hands, that looks like it could be what--you know, those cigars or whatever.

So he goes in reverse back to them, tries to get out of his car, and they slam the door shut violently. I think he said Michael did. Um and then he opened his car again and tried to get out, and as he stands up, Michael just bum rushes him back into his car, punches him in the face. And then, of course Darren grabs for his gun and Michael grabs the gun. And at one point he's got the gun totally turned against his hip and then he shoves it away and it goes off.

Then Michael takes off with his friend to be about 35 feet away and um, Darren, of course the protocol is to pursue and so he stands up and yells, FREEZE. Um, Michael and his friend turn around and Michael starts taunting him. "Oh, what are you going to do about it? You know, you're not going to shoot me." And then all of a sudden he just started to bum rush him---started coming at him full speed, and so he just started shooting, and he just kept coming. So he really thinks he was on something, um because he just kept coming. It was unbelievable. So and then he finally ended up---the final shot was in the forehead and then he fell about two of three feet in front of the officer.

So that's why the stories are going around about "oh, he was shot execution style." I think some people saw the shot to his head. Of course ballistics will prove he wasn't shot in the back like the other people are saying…the quote unquote witnesses, but … that's uh…. that's his version of what happened.

I can't wait to see any of the witness video footage as well as the autopsy. This woman paints Michael Brown as a drug crazed maniac. It makes me wonder if you can plant drugs on a corpse after the fact. I know that the mother said they were doing an additional autopsy on him. I just hope it's thorough because with this organization, anything is possible. They lie. They abuse innocent people and they cover up for their own. Which is why I call bullshit. I don't believe a word of it. It sounds contrived. After six days, SIX DAYS, and it took them this long to concoct this bullshit? I'm sorry. If he had been that out of control they would've been in front of the media THAT NIGHT! Instead they cowered, wouldn't release the cop's name and bullied and terrorized a bunch of innocent people. I DON'T BELIEVE A WORD THEY SAY. THEY'RE LIARS!

8:02 PM PT: This says it all. Cuts right through the bullshit.
